mermadicsolutio··on DeepSeek launching v4.1 flash cheaper and more capable than v4 pro
The price drop is probably more interesting than the benchmark improvement.

At these prices, you can start throwing Flash at a lot of small, repetitive tasks where you wouldn't even consider using a bigger model before. It feels like the interesting shift is not “Flash replaces Pro”, but “there are now a lot more things worth automating.”

mermadicsolutio··on Better AI code comment detector
I think the point should be making sure these AI codes are reviewed by developers, which is hard to do.

Developers write plenty of bad code and comments too, trying to detect AI just feels more like treating the symptom than the actual problem.

mermadicsolutio··on Better AI code comment detector
hahaha 99.9% of the time this is accurate, especially when the comment is accurate and long
mermadicsolutio··on Shopify acquires Tailwind
I think the bigger issue is that AI is attacking the business model, not necessarily the product.

Tailwind can still be massively popular, but if an AI agent can look at the docs/examples and generate 80% of what you'd otherwise pay for, that popularity doesn't translate into customers anymore.

Feels like we'll see this happen to a lot of "we already figured this out for you" developer products.

mermadicsolutio··on Doomscrolling ourselves to death
Often time I just found myself unconsciously take out my phone and start scrolling for no reason. Was not a conscious decision just muscle memory. Stop scrolling isn't really an option for me because a lot of info are genuinely useful, but I do fall into rabbithole of some of the most random stuff. Feel like that's how most people start doom scrolling
mermadicsolutio··on Babylonian Lamb Stew with Beets (1750–1730 BCE)
I was able to get some tail fat from a halal butcher. But never seen lamb fat anywhere else
mermadicsolutio··on Babylonian Lamb Stew with Beets (1750–1730 BCE)
Honestly the recipe sounds like adding beets to a regular lamb stew recipe. If I havent watch this video and saw the dish, I would think some fancy restaurant is trying to be "innovative"
mermadicsolutio··on Show HN: Typebase – A single-folder back end you write in TypeScript
What about you configure your aws cli and tell the agent which command to run for deployment? I found that useful since I don't have to expose any secrets to it, just a static set of commands
mermadicsolutio··on AI and Infrastructure Engineering
I've worked for a mid sized and a large company in the same fintech space. Like you said larger one use eks and the entire aws stack, mid sized one is still using 15 years old on prem stack and partially self hosted cloud service.

Now they are moving to microservice fleet but will have so much devop overhead, so I'm building this platform that's basically a simple managed microservice + job service, not sure how many companies will be interested

mermadicsolutio··on Salesforce CEO says the 'SaaSpocalypse' is nonsense
I don't even know what's this "SaaS" business they are talking about that's gonna get killed by AI. At least now when I look at all the agentic features from traditional SaaS companies, agent is basically just a smarter UI. Too many buzzwords nowadays imo
mermadicsolutio··on Show HN: Invovanta – Invoicing and business management for freelancers
This is honestly a huge help for business that don't know how to setup stripe. So this is like salesforce but for small businesses?
mermadicsolutio··on The Twelve-Factor App (2025)
Other than the pricing, for something built for simplicity, i always found their config method bit weird. Maybe it's just me b/c I first learned the aws stack, and got tired of managing EKS
mermadicsolutio··on The Twelve-Factor App (2025)
Yeah I don't see a reason to use k8s if not on cloud, and k8s on cloud is even more complex. Compose is still the right size for one box, that one command does all was really nice to have
mermadicsolutio··on Is "An agent with tools" the only valid LLM application?
Agentic product is nice to have if im new to it, but for simple products I'm familiar with, having to put my thought into words is way more annoying than typing in a couple numbers in a UI. I always thought "agent with tools" is just a new version of UI which is a info delivery method.

But on a second thought, most people in a company is essentially "agent with tools", so maybe it's already pretty amazing

mermadicsolutio··on The Twelve-Factor App (2025)
I'm debating the tradeoff for secret management in my app as well. Storing it is easy you just need encryption and it's mostly good. But delivering it is tricky. Delivery via env is simple for sure but can get leaked. The other route would be a job scoped signature, but this doesnt stop the job from printing the secret out, it only shrinks the blast radius.

But if you delete the secret after the job is done or deployment is up, it's pretty much the same result

mermadicsolutio··on Six months of writing code exclusively with agents
Yea it honestly feels like a typical meeting with colleagues, without company politics
mermadicsolutio··on Six months of writing code exclusively with agents
This is similar to my experience when cursor first came out. But now it's even trickier because LLM actually writes working code that pass the test. The issue is when i dig in deeper, there's often small security or design issues that will cause problem down the road when the app gets more traffic.

These issues are usually in really tedious places that I didn't bother to describe what to do to the agent
