merlinoa··on Opus 4.7 to 4.6 Inflation is ~45%
Most companies don't want to host it themselves. They want someone to do it for them, and they are happy to pay for it. If it makes their lives easier and does not add complexity, then it has a lot of value.

You paid 1M for a house and the government still owns it
merlinoa··on The Contradictions of Sam Altman
This is socialist nonsense. The government won't protect anything outside of their interests[0]. Free markets are good and necessary for human flourishing[1].

merlinoa··on Coinbase suspending USDC:USD conversions over the weekend
Better run than other stables. I have some USDC to sell you. Do you have any tether?
merlinoa··on Coinbase suspending USDC:USD conversions over the weekend
Agree that tether will inevitably go to zero, but I don't think it will be Bitfinix pulling out the rug. Tether is more useful for more people than any other stable for the time being. IMO it will be the last stable standing unless the US regulators go after them hard before going after others, which is very possible.

Tether is better run than any other stable coin. Yes, it could go to zero for many different reasons, but the main reason it gets so much flak (compared to other stables) is because it is less compliant with US regulators than USDC and the other major stable coins. Being less complaint with US regulators is also the reason it is used more than any other stable (highest volume by a wide margin); because people without US bank accounts can actually use it. Tether is a very helpful resource to a lot of people that otherwise would not have access to USD.
merlinoa··on Netlify acquires Gatsby
I host an old blog on netlify. I don't update it anymore, but a few months ago I started seeing a large uptick in subscribers. They were all subscribing through the netlify subscription form. It was around 8 to 10 new subscribers a day where before it was one every couple months. I emailed several of the new subscribers and got no response. After a few days I strongly suspected these were not real subscribers.

But why would someone waste their time adding a few subscribers to my old, non updated blog everyday? A couple weeks later I got an email from Netlify saying that I was being upgraded to a payment plan because of the amount of activity on my Netlify hosted form.
