memn0nis··on Show HN: Connect Google Sheets to MongoDB
Does anyone else use MongoDB but do most of their analysis in Google Sheets?

We were tired of exporting MongoDB to JSON, then converting JSON to CSV, then copy-pasting into Google Sheets and doing index-matches to consolidate collections. So we built a tool to automate it!

MongoToSheet quick exports your MongoDB collections into Google Sheets automatically. Feel free to sign up on our website (it's free).

memn0nis··on Ask HN: How to turn a “toy” side project into a business?
It's not an ad. It's genuinely a hobby project... We have not made any money on it. There are teams at those companies using our app, not the companies themselves.

My email address and main job / company are in my profile btw.

memn0nis··on Ask HN: How to turn a “toy” side project into a business?
Yeah we need better language. It's just a fun way for teams to stay connected. So for $1 a day a company can add it to as many channels / use it for as many teams they want.
memn0nis··on Ask HN: How to turn a “toy” side project into a business?
We've priced it relatively high at first, but we've also put the language "If you want to get on the paid plan for Hallway, but don't want to pay, just email us at support@hallway.chat with a link to yourself sharing Hallway on social media and we'll give you a discount"

We can look into adding tiers

Great article, thanks for sharing

Thanks for the advice! We don't store phone numbers, but that's great advice to ask users for language to use.

Regarding channels, we posted on product hunt and then I think they are mostly word of mouth

memn0nis··on Ask HN: How to turn a “toy” side project into a business?
Btw we just added the paid tier today!
memn0nis··on Ask HN: How to turn a “toy” side project into a business?
Oh it posts hangout rooms every X hours in any channel you want so you and your colleagues can have a 10 minute chat. It's a fun break from work
memn0nis··on Ask HN: How to turn a “toy” side project into a business?
Yeah they have video rooms... Hallway can use any video room software
memn0nis··on Ask HN: How do you implement “user impersonation” support?
This is really helpful. And good guidance on thinking really hard about whether it's needed.

When do companies usually start not allowing this? I've heard of even facebook and google having this functionality?

memn0nis··on How a 2 person startup already uses 26 other tools / services
Yeah, the biggest thing would be automating / integrating our outreach across channels. Something like boomerang across channels would be really nice
memn0nis··on How a 2 person startup already uses 26 other tools / services
Thanks! We haven't, but we get a lot of this for free because we're so small. As soon as we grow we will have to prune the list for sure (but will replace these tools with others)
memn0nis··on How a 2 person startup already uses 26 other tools / services
The biggest issue is that we have all these tools but don't have the time to integrate any of them :). Most integrate with Zapier though
memn0nis··on Launch HN: PostHog (YC W20) – open-source product analytics
The interesting part to me here is that all the non-open source tools are very big, successful companies
memn0nis··on Ask HN: If I build this tool to centralize communication, would you use it?
Yeah we do this all the time. We set up shared slack channels with our customers
memn0nis··on Ask HN: If I build this tool to centralize communication, would you use it?
Thanks for sharing Missive. I'll check it out!
memn0nis··on Ask HN: If I build this tool to centralize communication, would you use it?
Are there any channels that Pipedrive can't support
memn0nis··on Ask HN: If I build this tool to centralize communication, would you use it?
Yep, the idea is to create a CRM with many more seamless integrations / an open API. Our big missing channels are LinkedIn, texts, and Slack messages
memn0nis··on Show HN: FounderPhone – make customer support personal with SMS
Our thesis is that it should be authentic.. i.e., the company should know who you are. It's terrible to contact support and have them have no idea about all your past interactions with a company. We want to prevent situations like the above from happening down the road
memn0nis··on Show HN: FounderPhone – make customer support personal with SMS
Yes on #1. We dont have auto-reminders or an autoresponder, but could certainly build them!
memn0nis··on Ask HN: What landing page do you love?
I really like stripe
memn0nis··on SoftBank is still writing big checks
Definitely disagree. You're essentially making the argument that Softbank is too big to fail. This is not true.
memn0nis··on Ask HN: Which project does not have any good open-source alternatives?
There was another thread about Aspera on HN the other day.
memn0nis··on Ask HN: What did you build in 2019?
We built a lot, but here are two :)

Talkative (meettalkative.com) - The easier way to interview your users

Referlist (referlist.co) - Increase sign-ups via Robinhood-style referrals

memn0nis··on Ask HN: First time working from home; what to do or not do?
For me, the most important thing I do is "act" like I am at work. I.e., shower, shave, put on work clothes, sit at a desk, and only take the type of breaks I would in an office environment (e.g., make coffee)
memn0nis··on What happens when your career becomes your whole identity
This. It's so easy to escape in workaholism and ignore the "hard" things in life (relationships, health, purpose, etc). It's easy (for me at least) to fall into this trap.
memn0nis··on Mileage runs are last-minute dashes for airline status
I never had waived change fees when I was 1K. They must have added it recently, but agree that is nice!
memn0nis··on Ask HN: How do you consume noisy financial news?
Don't.. it's mostly noise to be honest. There are good financial commentators (e.g., Matt Levine) but most financial news is just noise
