Indie hacker doing some stuff with AI

meiraleal··on Ask HN: Is it ironic that OpenAI says DeepSeek used its work without permission?
> but nobody in China is going to prosecute them

It would be very funny actually if they did to find DeepSeek not guilty

meiraleal··on Advice for a friend who wants to start a blog
One can have even broader appeal by offending everyone
meiraleal··on Thank You DeepSeek
They openned OpenAI :)

OpenAI has a great opportunity now to get back to do the right thing but that would mean a much smaller valuation so they will go for broke

One more proof that AGI is not near
meiraleal··on OpenAI says it has evidence DeepSeek used its model to train competitor
How much money a third company would need to spend to achieve what OpenAI achieved to compete with them, 5billion or 6million?
meiraleal··on OpenAI says it has evidence DeepSeek used its model to train competitor
Which TikTok will have to decline again and shutdown now with the guilty being transferred to Trump. Doesn't sound like a smart move.

"We didn’t see them when we were stealing, we saw them when they were fighting over what we stole"

meiraleal··on OpenAI Furious DeepSeek Might Have Stolen All the Data OpenAI Stole from Us
oh well, I switched yesterday from a paid plan to a free one and I'm quite happy with the quality improvement.
meiraleal··on Promising results from DeepSeek R1 for code
I'll start to "worry" when the AI creates something to replace React. If what's coming of LLMs is react/next.js code, I'm not worried at all.
meiraleal··on Promising results from DeepSeek R1 for code
maybe the developers are just tired of this childish game and decided to block interactions like this in place of creating news headlines? Garbage in, garbage out. DeepSeek is more efficient but even more efficient is to not waste computing.
meiraleal··on Promising results from DeepSeek R1 for code
You got what you wanted from the model, why are you unhappy with the results? It is not as if chatgpt and claude don't also restrict users for small "ToS violations".

Trump threatened to invade and/or take over Denmark, Mexico, Canada and Panama.
meiraleal··on Boom XB-1 First Supersonic Flight [video]
Uber is not unprofitable, there are so many people that got rich off it, they just max out salaries and compensations.
meiraleal··on Why OpenAI's $157B valuation misreads AI's future (Oct 2024)
> Hopefully in a week, realistically two.

Wouldn't it be just a few prompts to get it done?

meiraleal··on Ask HN: So, how hard was it to get your AI to work?
A few months ago I made some toy AI apps that had amazing results - when it worked. When it failed, it would get me so annoyed that I'm feeling burnt out and don't want to keep "fixing" issues that keep appearing.
meiraleal··on Ask HN: Do you think DeepSeek success will impact the hiring market?
Wouldn't it also shift the spending from hardware back to software? As they say, software eats the world
meiraleal··on DeepSeek's Popular AI App Is Explicitly Sending US Data to China
So what? All US apps explicitly send the world's data to the US.
meiraleal··on Ask HN: Can AI soon make the Linux desktop a first-rate user experience?
Linux UX is much, much better than OSX and Windows, if you are a power-user. There are plenty of open source software that are much more polished than their commercial counter-part. They only lack the marketing budget.
meiraleal··on The impact of competition and DeepSeek on Nvidia
Nobody expects it but what we know for sure is that they have burnt billions of dollars. If other startups can get there spending millions, the fact is that openai won't ever be profitable.

And more important (for us), let the hiring frenzy start again :)

meiraleal··on The impact of competition and DeepSeek on Nvidia
tell that to the stock market then, it might change the graph direction back to green.
meiraleal··on The impact of competition and DeepSeek on Nvidia
DeepSeek is profitable, openai is not. That big expensive moat won't help much when the competition knows how to fly.
meiraleal··on Qwen2.5-1M: Deploy your own Qwen with context length up to 1M tokens
We should be able to provide 2 fields, context and prompt so the prompt gets higher priority and don't get mixed with the whole context.
meiraleal··on Qwen2.5-1M: Deploy your own Qwen with context length up to 1M tokens
For this breakthrough to happen, big tech will need to hire software engineers again :)

But the good thing is that DeepSeek proved those breakthroughs are going to happen one way or another, fast.

meiraleal··on Ask HN: Would including an AI in calls to friends/family reduce loud arguments?
Realtime like this would only make people more mad but maybe, after the discussion, to review what was said and what could be said, then it might be helpful. But it can also push you to be even more mad for having missing some things.
meiraleal··on Elon Musk, Video Game King? Well, Maybe Not
the problem is when "discussions like these" have 2k comments while great technical posts receives 2, 3 comments. If it monopolizes the forum attention, it is not good.
meiraleal··on Ask HN: app.example.com vs. example.com/app for a browser based product?
yes there are some peculiarities related to indexeddb, service worker and other web apis, app.example.com is another domain and might not share scope with example.com
meiraleal··on Elon Musk, Video Game King? Well, Maybe Not
it’s kinda obvious. The people that already like him would defend it and justify the act and the people that dislike him would do the opposite. I guess he might have lost a small % of people liking him here but I would not bet it to be much
meiraleal··on Emerging reasoning with reinforcement learning
> I am surprised that the faang labs which have the best of the best didn't see this.

After so many layoff rounds, they might have got stuck with the best at avoiding it.

meiraleal··on Emotional support across adulthood: A 60-year study of men’s social networks
> As for the rest, I suggest you take that red pill out of your mouth.

Talking about men opening up, but only if the problem is them. I suggest you the same. Stop hating men for no reason.
