mehulkar··on Stripe Button (beta)
Weirdly enough, I think if you don't require it, I'm more likely to use it anyway. I call it the 'how dare you' syndrome.
mehulkar··on I made a 'search engine' for fun
haven't hired the mbas yet :P
mehulkar··on Stripe Button (beta)
Agreed. Hope they don't pull a twitter and require devs to use their buttons.
mehulkar··on Show HN: From an idea to the Valley in less than a month
Not sure if it's just me, but I don't really make phone calls to anyone except parents and a few other family members. With everyone else, friends and work related, I prefer to skype-- usually a scheduled time, but sometimes impromptu. On the flip side, I don't get that many phone calls either. Most other types of communication is asynchronous.
mehulkar··on Apple's tribute to Steve Jobs, one year on.
He should be, again with all due respect to Steve.

mehulkar··on If The Internet Explorer 9 Commercial Was Honest
I'm not a fan of IE, but I didn't expect it to be targeted on TC like this.
mehulkar··on Facebook Gifts
Just a few more poorly measured statistics from me: I have 1200+ friends, have about 10-15 birthdays a week. Never post on their walls, don't have my birthday listed. Get maybe 10-15 wishes a year on my wall. Text/call about 10-15 people a year (not including family). Before I removed my birthday, I had about 700 friends and would get around 100 wall posts.

Going to try an experiment where I make a random day my birthday, delete all the posts that catch on to the fake birthday, and then change it to a month later. Will post results.

mehulkar··on Facebook Gifts
That's my issue with this. My 'friend' list isn't really a list of friends. That's not Facebook's fault[1] though.

[1] arguable?

mehulkar··on Face detection for cats in JavaScript
That's not a cat, that's a dinosaur.
mehulkar··on Ask HN: Unsolicited Feedback, Yay or Nay?
And if you was a freelancer instead of an employee? or a coworker?
mehulkar··on Ask HN: Unsolicited Feedback, Yay or Nay?
I may have phrased the question wrong, but I meant the other way around. If I did work for you, would you provide me with feedback if I didn't ask for it?
mehulkar··on Please stop with the video tutorials
Same with Ryan Bates and Railscasts. Bringing it up since OP brought up Rails.

mehulkar··on Unlimited music from youtube videos (very alpha'ish)
It's probably the featured video in the set of related videos. Or is this a custom recommendation engine?
mehulkar··on What have you tried
I am tempted to make the mistake of asking for the solution almost daily. I am guilty of asking for the solution every few days. Thank you for writing this. I will use these two metrics as way to measure my growth as a programmer.
mehulkar··on Ruby, PHP, MySQL, Perl, Free Hosting for geeks
I don't really need this (right now), but I'd like to commend you on using a sensible Captcha and not some ridiculous fuzzy image.
mehulkar··on Twitter Reportedly Discontinuing Development of Its Mac Client
Yet I've been trained to think that the people with big degrees know best, so I'm still counting on them making my twitter experience, and thus my life, much much better. fingers crossed
mehulkar··on Entrepreneurship is hard but you can’t die
The difference is that in one you're pulling the metaphorical trigger on yourself and in the other someone else is.
mehulkar··on Entrepreneurship is hard but you can’t die
Or just really great timing.
mehulkar··on I did the scariest thing I can imagine: I resigned
This sounds a bit like hyperbole. People don't die from startups.
mehulkar··on BranchOut Falsifies Wall Street Journal Quote
If I wasn't looking for it, I would have missed the "Never Yet Featured On". The list of feature articles is so recognizable now, I don't really pay attention to the details in the panel anymore.

I don't understand how they got 25m users to begin with. I they they made me a profile one click after a friend invited me. So I guess I do understand how they got 25m users...
mehulkar··on Advice On & Instruction in The Use of Ember.js
There are better ways to do it, but I use a javascript include tag to render the directory that holds my ember app in the view file of the route I want to render it in.
mehulkar··on Advice On & Instruction in The Use of Ember.js
I was concerned about this as well, but I'm successfully using an Ember app as just part of my application. The plan is to use multiple ember apps within the same rails app.
mehulkar··on Updated: We’ve Deleted Our Facebook Page
If you're like to follow us on Twitter, where we don't get shaken down...

This was from back in July right? Wonder how that sentence would change given recent Twitter news.

mehulkar··on Twitter Removes 'Via' Stamp From Web Client
What's more interesting is that each of these little drips is turning into front page news material. Every time the giant shifts in its sleep, the villagers run amuck.
mehulkar··on Why you should not be displaying relative dates.
I'm an actual user who doesn't really care about machine-readable timestamps and I would prefer absolute dates. The gmail solution in post works for me too.
