mehmedrecip··on Running graph-traversal algorithms in the Google Cloud
I wondered how routing engines do it. (Air ticketing, Waze, etc.) They send the traveling salesman (right, there are more efficient algos!) through their entire network of routes, and that's while you wait. But I still don't totall understand how the authors of this article did it.

The only way to build a network is to start with a network. Here's a trick that's worked for me: Arrange with a conference organizer to connect people who are already there. After all, you know that these folks want to talk. once you have that critical seed, everything else will follow. Just make sure that your first users get real value out of your app!

I looked at rightjoin.io and the design is beautiful! Best of luck.

mehmedrecip··on Show HN: Developers recruiting developers
Social recruiting always snags good candidates. This is a natural extension. Let's cut recruiters out of the loop!

Before you know it, the TSA will ban popsicle sticks.

Marx would say -- this is taking us back to the old pre-capitalist days. Capitalism reduced the employer/worker relation to money alone. Now, in the leading edge, it's not just a lotta money, it's ski days, free lunch, and beeeeer!

Is that a step forward or a step backwards?

mehmedrecip··on Ask HN: Where can I find a software job that helps society?
Nice selection of "meaningful jobs." But the listings are US only (though the other features have international support). When will you expand the "meaningful jobs" to the UK?
mehmedrecip··on Rise of the Anti-Recruiters
Yes! Recruiters are spamming their way to the bottom as their ship goes down.

But I'd love to see some recruiters who act like they care about both sides of the deal, and make things easy on us.

mehmedrecip··on Why don't software communities serve as job hubs?
You know, open-source sites and User Groups already get job postings.

But I like your idea: The programmers should say "come, make me an offer", so long as you can make sure the offers are good.

mehmedrecip··on Ask HN: Is it worthwhile to do major graphic design reworks?
The graphic design is funny and cartoony. Not usual in a job site, but I it's good stuff!

No need for any changes.

I registered at FiveYearItch a while ago, and it is doing quite well for me. So, keep it up!

mehmedrecip··on Ask HN: Is it worthwhile to do major graphic design reworks?
Yes. Even if it would be expensive to pay for a full re-design and coding to match, you can tweak graphic design just as you can tweak functionality.
