megalord··on The new skill in AI is not prompting, it's context engineering
I agree with everything in the blog post. What I'm struggling with right now is the correct way of executing things the most safe way but also I want flexibility for LLM. Execute/choose function from list of available fns is okay for most use cases, but when there is something more complex, we need to somehow execute more things from allowed list, do some computations in between calls etc.
megalord··on Moving on from React, a year later
I agree with this, it was always the case with everything in the real world as well. People use tools that can best handle the problem they have. However, I think most today's websites/apps do not require to be SPA oriented. If only the one page requires heavy client-side interaction, there's always possibility to use SPA library only on that one particular page

what are those 4 icons of google, amazon, airbnbn, openai on landing page for? I never understood why people are doing this.
megalord··on After 6 years, I'm over GraphQL
Many of you guys probably don't even need API for web development. Same as we didn't. We rewrote codebase, removed React and Graphql part and now Django serves html. Win win for everyone.

We don't have mobile app and don't even plan, but if we do, we always can implement some rest api.

megalord··on Partitioning Postgres tables by timestamp based UUIDs
> No matter what indexes we threw at the table

I don't have information on how team investigated the whole problem. What table looks like? What indexes exactly? Was there any explain analyzing? 28 millions are not as many as it seems. We have similar sized table but when indexed properly, query is always quick

megalord··on Show HN: I built a Python web framework
Yeah, because when we implement it in C++ we surely are going to save the planet now.

Communism has never been tried? Could you explain a little bit more? I don't know if you are joking or lacking knowledge. Or maybe I lack some knowledge you know about

Django is just one example. There wasn't major change for how the whole application is being written

I wonder if introduction of some goats there would change something

> to one very specific type of client is frankly stupid

However, I see this specific type of clients that need just basic web functionalities, e.g CRUD operations and build something basic more prevalent than those that need very instant in-app reactivity and animations and so on (React, and SPA ecosystem).

Nowadays that's exactly the opposite, every web developer assumes SPA as default option, even on these simple CRUD examples.

megalord··on Ask HN: Most interesting tech you built for just yourself?
This is really impressive. Very nice work
megalord··on The self-fulfilling prophecy of React
I have been in 4 different companies, with a decent to very good salary. React is self-fulfilling prophecy also because developers want to make as much money as possible and companies need more React developers because, at least in my experience, development is so much harder and slower with react - so companies need more react developers, and because there aren't many in the market, price (salary) per developer goes even higher.

So everybody learns React, because companies need more React developers, because development is too slow. Think about it, which developer would prefer framework/library that gets job done quicker and easier, but pays less?

megalord··on The self-fulfilling prophecy of React
Don't know anything about your company or product, but I've been in 4 different companies where React was used. Every single one had different setup, best practices, state management lib, "the way" of doing things, bundler (create-react-app, next.js), etc.

Each project was so big, that I'm little in doubt about your statement "within 24h they contribute to the code". It could be your react apps are very very small or junior devs are very very good and probably shouldn't be called juniors.

There are 102 countries having fertility rate above 2.1, a lot of these countries are in Africa or Near East. Still in a lot of these countries, fertility rate is dropping year by year
