Thanks so much for making this!
meetapoorvgupta··on Show HN: I've spent nearly 5y on a web app that creates 3D apartments
Hi, this looks cool.

I have the floorplan & measurements of an apartment. I'd like to see how it looks with furniture. Does this allow me to generate multiple furnishing styles until I find one I like? Does it give me links to the product pages of the furniture?

I understand that this is a different use case from what you had in mind. I'm also open to recommendations of other websites.

Looks like it got a lot of traffic. The author seems to have removed all the links on the homepage and Google and archive.is do not seem to have it in their indices either.

I am a regular Software Engineer at a FAANG company. I have a Bachelor's degree in CS and no papers or patents. What's a reliable route for me to file a successful EB-1 application?

What kind of hackathons I can judge/other industry events can I speak at/be in the press to satisfy the requirements of EB-1? How can I get those opportunities?

Young, unmarried individuals will be able to immigrate. Applicants can also bring in their spouses if they are educated and can are fluent in English.

It appeases his nationalist base because it would not give visas to immigrants in low-paid jobs. Most of those voters were never in contention for the high-paying tech jobs anyway. They have no reason to care too much about them.

Overall immigration will decrease.

All I know is that China has a huge, ambitious, STEM-focused workforce and a smaller economy. They could discriminate against applicants on any arbitrary basis ( I have no idea if they do, but that's irrelevant) and still continue to hire lots of intelligent, highly-qualified, and hard-working employees.

He has also expressed a strong desire to revamp the permanent residence visa allocation process to use an individual-focused, merit-based system that prefers applicants with a high income.

If I had to choose one, I'd prefer more employment visas over family visas and definitely diversity visas.

Are you kidding me? 50% of the seats at IITs and every other government institution - including civil services - are reserved for people whose parents were also eligible for these reservations.

Thanks for the write up, Lucas. It was very intuitive and I learnt a lot.

I noticed that you used 5000 buckets to store the frequency of 7000 non-unique words in the section on 'Counting Bloom Filters'. How is that better than using 7000 buckets and a uniformly distributed hash function, which would maintain frequencies perfectly? We would be using fewer buckets by an order of magnitude in a real-world implementation to save memory.

Google released a C++ implementation of Mapreduce sometime back. It had been developed at Skybox IIRC

CMU uses this for their Parallel Algorithm Design course: http://www.parallel-algorithms-book.com/ It's still a work-in-progress though.
