I agree that unity is good for prototyping, and lots of people have experience with that. Turning it into a finished product is less well-trodden, but not impossible.
The best thing I learned was to keep it simple, but not simplistic. It's easy to be too clever, but when you have good boundaries of code and reasonable coupling, it's pretty alright.
My project is a bit unique in its simplicity, so i can't say someone with a more complex one wouldn't have more problems. But I'm not running to UE any time soon. Unity works surprisingly well for me, but there is a learning curve.
Among the most interesting things has been the parallels to desktop OS design patterns, such as leveraging spatial awareness as a means of organization.
And if it actually clicks with people (still working on the demo), i'm going to make it social; in a github way, not an instagram way.
all I want is to follow specific people and see their tweets in chronological order. I don't want it shuffled, i don't care what they've liked, I don't care what who follows them is tweeting (if I did, i would be following them).
Also, it's creepy there is no "disable" or "stop" functionality. Everything is "See less often". No, I don't want to see it EVER.
I've effectively been locked out of minecraft now. Have had nothing but problems with Microsoft accounts.
If they hadn't screwed with it, I'd still be using thunderbird. I don't know why they became so anti-user.
Why the attitude? It's disingenuous to infer they were stating anything other than their opinion.
B) This isn't something to be proud of, and certainly not something others should emulate. Ignorance isn't what makes you successful. (likewise, neither is millions of data points).
c) Business plans and balance sheets are still very useful and applicable, and fair to say they aren't everything.
this is a terrible analysis. Netflix recognized early on that they need to start yesterday (years ago) before other streaming services came online. it's why they're still relevant today.
Otherwise I must confess: I was bearish on netflix, and still am overall. But their investments are thoughtful and strategic, squid game being a recent example. I don't love them, but they're the only service I'm paying for.
their weakness is the monthly cost for unlimited streaming. Once you're basically in every home, the only way you can extract more money is to raise the rates. When a hit show comes out, people may signup for a month to watch and then cancel, and they certainly honor that behavior. But they're also mindful of ads and the expectations of their current user base, and will have to get creative on generating new revenue. I give them 50/50 they find a way.
It really is such a painful experience all in all, and so hostile to user experience, that I cannot do it again. And it's only gotten worse... and will continue to get worse - because the order of priority is microsoft -> your company -> you.
So the answer is YES. Tell them you don't use MS products and that it's not a fit.
Teams made me bitterly angry too, and it really doesn't have to be that way! Work somewhere with great tools, and you'll have much better chances of also working with great people.
i've never been, but that might be part of why.
But if you add dependencies, and don't make time to keep them up to date... you're going to have a bad time.
The thing about lego sets as an investment opportunity is it's beanie-babies all over again. It's easy to end up with cheap junk that nobody wants.
Higher returns does not mean it's a "better investment".
actually its easier than that: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/research/blog/utilizing-cons...
