meehow··on Threshold Schnorr signs in 3ms, threshold ECDSA in 5s
This started as a side effect: I implemented FROST, CGGMP and DKLs23 in one codebase to understand them, and kept being surprised by how differently they cost. So I benchmarked everything I could get to build on one machine: my implementations, both Rust DKLs23 libraries, Binance's tss-lib, Taurus' CGGMP library and Zcash Foundation's frost crates.

- Compiled firmware is available on GitHub, packed together with a script for flashing it.

- You can use Meshtastic CLI.

- Docs are in git repository in .mdx format: https://github.com/meshtastic/meshtastic

All "sins" you mentioned are results of trying to be more convenient for users used to web browsers. Current state of web is pretty far from being decentralized, including web3.

meehow··on PrivTracker – Private BitTorrent tracker for everyone
Yes, this one :)

It's automatically pushed to docker hub.

  docker run -it --rm meehow/privtracker

meehow··on Show HN: Hacker News Telegraph: News generated from your comments
Thank you for the feedback. Of course, it's AI-based. I have a cron job to check for new content every hour, but it generates articles only when there is some discussion going on.
meehow··on Bluetooth keystroke-injection in Android, Linux, macOS and iOS
Hi, I generated new article from your comments.

meehow··on Ledger's NPM account has been hacked
So it was intended to be used this way. Didn't work very well. Connect-kit-loader trusts whatever the CDN throws, CDN trusts whatever NPM throws and NPM trusts whatever GitHub throws.

Regular smart cards also don't have screens, so it would mean totally blind signing. That's the problem which hardware wallets are solving, but sometimes the screen is just too small to show all the details of complex transactions.
meehow··on Ask HN: How do you discover new websites?
Haha. True, but content here not very generic.
meehow··on Ask HN: How do you synchronise your notes?
I really like Glow: https://github.com/charmbracelet/glow

Cloud part is done right. No accounts, no emails. Just your ssh key (which you probably already have).

Thank you for testing. Usually the story is a bit longer, but it's really random.
meehow··on Ask HN: Those making $0/month or less on side projects – Show and tell
https://privtracker.com/ Private BitTorrent tracker for everyone

No plans or even ideas how to commercialize it, so it will stay at $-10/month.

I made it just for fun, but noticed that there are some users, so I keep it running.

meehow··on Is this the end of crypto?
You don't need to trust when you can verify. Some exchanges do audits and proof-of-reserves regularly, but majority of them prefer to cheat on their customers.
meehow··on Is this the end of crypto?
Fractional reserve is a scam, not crypto. Every institution which doesn't have money which they promised to keep safe, should collapse. Proof of reserves and audits are extremely easy in crypto and it doesn't require any regulations. Self custody of crypto is also pretty simple. Market is young, people greedy and as a result we got this domino of falling companies. Even after Mt. Gox collapse people didn't learn much, but I quietly hope it will come.
meehow··on Ask HN: How are you helping employees affected by the war in Ukraine?

meehow··on Ask HN: How are you helping employees affected by the war in Ukraine?
Borders are open and they can cross without any visa. Russia is spreading some fake news about closed borders. There is a list of reception points in Poland (some are walking distance from the border) in case they have problems with finding accommodation:

I submitted it yesterday, but there were no upvotes. Interesting. Is it because it wasn't open source back then?

meehow··on Ask HN: What finished/done/complete software do you use?
This is interesting one: https://github.com/snark/jumpcut/commits/master?after=7f9772...

It was unmaintained for 7 years (at the time when I was using it), but looks like it's alive again. It's a simple program which "just worked".

What are the advantages (for users) of using Gmail API over IMAP/JMAP?

It sounds like huge disadvantage when email client works with just one provider.

meehow··on Scammers registering date-based domain names
Quick fix for SMS app creators: when you highlight a link, accent the domain part of it, just like Firefox is doing in URL bar.
