meaydinli··on Paper Plane Game
Saw the paper plane trend in Threads, thought this might be fun. Used Claude.

Take a look at: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/products/workstations/dgx-spark... . IIRC, it was about ~$4K.

Also seems to be unaware of the fact that NGO's are usually soft-power. They are either carrots or sticks in diplomacy or a cover for IC.
meaydinli··on Build a Low-Cost Drone Using ESP32
No, it is not "Hacker News" to paint a large swath of people as "ignorant". The proper way would have been to publish a detailed, technical analysis and present your ideas along with your proof to the greater community and facilitate a discussion.
meaydinli··on Itch.io Taken Down by Funko
Behavior from "iwantmyname" doesn't sound like they deserve your business anymore.
meaydinli··on Software development topics I've changed my mind on after 6 years in industry
I am one of those weirdos that like to work on "un-sexy" things behind the scenes which hopefully makes the life of my colleagues a bit better with every attempt. I don't think it is necessary for small teams, and may even be considered a waste of time, but once a team is sufficiently big and spread out, I think a few people working in the background, keeping watch of things, cleaning up after people, proactively improving stuff, creating and enforcing rules and standards is very beneficial and necessary for a team's next growth spurt.
meaydinli··on Hezbollah pager explosions kill several people in Lebanon
I'd guess anybody with a pager in that part of the world dumped theirs as soon as they heard what happened.
meaydinli··on Sleep on it: How the brain processes many experiences, even when 'offline'

meaydinli··on Billie Eilish, Pearl Jam, 200 artists say AI poses threat to their livelihoods
Groups like that use vague language like that on purpose so that when they are cornered and questioned, they can say non-committal, vague things like that and get away with not caring about nobody but themselves.

So yes, if they really mean protecting the community along with young artists, they have to explicitly and clearly state it to be believable.

meaydinli··on How we engineer feedback at Figma with eng crits
Feel free to drop your company name here with pride, because that feels like a breath of fresh air.
meaydinli··on PG&E claims no connection between rate increases and $2.2B jump in earnings
You are right, I forgot about that. I guess it is capitalism/greed induced corruption.
meaydinli··on PG&E claims no connection between rate increases and $2.2B jump in earnings
For the last few months, we have done our best to reduce both our electric and gas usages. Unfortunately, regardless of however much we reduce, each bill came higher than the one before.
meaydinli··on PG&E claims no connection between rate increases and $2.2B jump in earnings
There are plenty of monopolies, duopolies, etc in the "free" market that have nothing to do with governments. Example: How broadband companies share the map and don't intrude into each other's "territories".
meaydinli··on WTF with high school questions?
Reminds me of https://twitter.com/mxcl/status/608682016205344768 , which a lot of companies still do for irrelevant positions.
meaydinli··on Decision Fatigue
You are making the same mistake Elon is making. You don't know enough about the subject to even be aware of how much you don't know and what you are missing. You might be very competent in another subject, but that doesn't grant you the right to write in such a demeaning tone.
meaydinli··on Mohammed bin Salman: Saudi leader given US immunity over Khashoggi killing
How is investigation of Modi by "Supreme court of India" an independent investigation? It is the classic case of "we looked into our wrong doing and found nothing"
meaydinli··on Ask HN: Is anyone working on “downloading” knowledge to the brain?
I agree that they are high bandwidth inputs but not all of it sticks. There is a saying that goes: "in one ear and out the other". Recently, I learned about "reticular activating system". As far as I can understand, RAS determines what is important to you and provides your focus there. This is pure speculation but it might be that, eyes/ears are indeed very high-bandwidth inputs that if all their data was persisted, it would overwhelm our brain.
meaydinli··on Burnout can exacerbate work stress, further promoting a vicious circle
Thank you, that is a good question. I haven't thought of it from that POV. Nothing is preventing me aside from my work-load, and the feeling that I am letting everybody down every second this project is further delayed.
meaydinli··on Burnout can exacerbate work stress, further promoting a vicious circle
I am going through this right now. I have constant tension headaches and doc says I should stay away from stress, stress triggers and chocolate/coffee/etc. How am I supposed to do that with work/life/COVID and everything 2020?

I have a big project on me, and there is no way I can get the rest I need to recover properly. I took 2 days off, and my colleagues are rallying to help as much as they can, but some of the info is silo'd on me so I need to work on it.

meaydinli··on Hackers take over prominent Twitter accounts in simultaneous attack
Please be kind to the people that are working on this problem, right now, at Twitter and the countless hours that will need to go into remedying it.

Hopefully, an eventual post-mortem is gonna be juicy and then we can critique all we want.

A well-trained sniper that you can trust to cover a crowd needs a lot of training and time and money.

A drone is $30k

meaydinli··on Turkey Now Has Swarming Suicide Drones It Could Export
yep, it all fits in with M.A.D.
meaydinli··on Turkey Now Has Swarming Suicide Drones It Could Export
What if LEO don't have LoS? What if that violent person is in the middle of a massive crowd? Article says this drone can fly at 90 mph, which means it can get to the threat muuuuch faster. For a gun, you also need personnel on the ground, which puts them at risk and they can cover only so much area. A drone at a good enough altitude with a streaming camera can send it back home for constant, automagical scanning and threat-profiling.
meaydinli··on Turkey Now Has Swarming Suicide Drones It Could Export
Because that is an escalation that nobody wants, for now. Even piracy was tolerated for a while until it became economically too disturbing. I don't think it all disappeared but it is not that bothersome.

If anybody started threatening commercial civilian flight, countries would fall on them like bricks. Quarantine for a few months was devastating on many fronts. Now, think if all flights were grounded for months...

meaydinli··on Turkey Now Has Swarming Suicide Drones It Could Export
Or or or... Every now and then the balance of power shifts, global/regional powers fade and rise and now it is China's turn.

As for refugees, they weren't forced. The border police just didn't stop them. I agree Erdogan coming on TV and yelling it out openly was a below-the-belt tactic and after that people started transporting refugees by the bus to the border.

...and it is laughable to suggest EU will lift another finger for Greece after taking their wallet and vacationing with that money too

meaydinli··on Turkey Now Has Swarming Suicide Drones It Could Export
oh you should definitely checkout some of the more serious "hobby" rockets and launches. All it would need is some extra kick and some guidance. Hezbollah builds and launches even more basic missiles all the time, and hurts Israel all the time.
