meatsock··on Electronic Music in 476 Tracks from 1937-2001 (2016)
the article is a well researched list of some notable electronic music and as such is a valuable resource to anyone looking for jumping off points to go research and learn more. That's a better way to learn about a intimidatingly deep field than Ishkur's list -- from the start it was a satire of the sort of people who require obsessive categorization and desire for others to summarize stuff that one could just go listen to for themselves and form opinions on.
meatsock··on Looking at the original Apollo 12 code listing (and the 1202 fix)

meatsock··on Wheel Electronic
this is a simple board for generating midi messages from a potentiometer, in order to implement physical user interfaces. theyve got boards for buttons or note input as well. to convert in the other direction, try-a paia: https://www.paia.com/midi2cv.asp
meatsock··on Bugged Planet
the method of improving user submitted content that i prefer to use ends up being more enjoyable than asking for explanations when the material doesn't grab me.
meatsock··on Node-based a/v composition: programs as graphs and graphs as compositional tools
this is a great project, i am interested to see more competitors to pd, vvvv, and max matthews little program. a lot of great work has been made on tools like this.

meatsock··on SIGSALY – Secure Speech System Used in WWII by the Allies
as a record collector, the idea that top secret military phonographs filled with white noise may have once existed sure is exiting. can there possibly be any rarer record than one that required it's own destruction after use?
meatsock··on Audio AI: isolating vocals from stereo music using Convolutional Neural Networks
you can compare the L and R channels to each other to separate signals out of a stereo field. https://cycling74.com/forums/separating-stereo-segments-poss...
meatsock··on Millennials still recognise songs from music’s 1960s-90s golden age, study finds
"The large number of popular songs during the latter part of the 30th century may explain why so many are recognisable decades later." or even before!
meatsock··on Best of Show: PDP-7 and PDP-11/40 emulation

meatsock··on Show HN: Dancemusic.wtf – Quiz Game for Learning Electronic Dance Music Styles
this is not the case. speedbass was created by terbo ted and a few other folks as a prank before ishkur reported on it (either sincerely or tongue in cheek) but that hasn't got bearings on it's origins as anti-music intentionally messing around with concepts of perception and categorization.
meatsock··on Show HN: Dancemusic.wtf – Quiz Game for Learning Electronic Dance Music Styles
to clarify: speedbass was a prank meant to poke fun at folks who are more interested in taxonomizing music than exploring sounds with an open mind.
meatsock··on Show HN: Dancemusic.wtf – Quiz Game for Learning Electronic Dance Music Styles
ishkur wrote this completely tounge in cheek, it's a snarky satire. there are entirely made up genres and artists and not a whole lot of ways to tell what's accurate and what is not.

for example, there is no such thing as speedbass.

meatsock··on The Different Fate of Apple’s Lisa and Macintosh
the article has an image captioned 'A screen shot of the Lisa Office System 3.1 (actual resolution)' but the image is from a Mac. The Lisa didn't have an apple menu and used a different font.
meatsock··on Free Music Archive
by definition public radio is in the public interest, not many ad supported stations can claim that.
meatsock··on Show HN: Vinyl record and sleeve grading tool
a sealed record can be in poor condition in a number of unexpected ways. sealedness is only an indication of 0 uses (most of the time), not of a perfect life
meatsock··on Detecting Methane from Miles Away
headline should read "a mile away"

also i don't think that methane comes out when a human exhales.

meatsock··on Boston’s most radical TV show blew minds in 1967
experimental media is important, and so is a public-media world it can exist in. support shows your local public stations motives other than profit are necessary for culture.
