mdolon··on Mixlr Exits Beta – Now Targets Everybody Not Just DJs And Musicians
The link above goes to an excerpt for me, here is the full article:

mdolon··on Wikileaks says it is under attack
Apparently this leak will show that an additional 15,000 civilians have died in Iraq. While that may not sound like much compared to the total who died, but think about it - 15,000 people like you and I died and the state department decided to hide this. If any other government did this there would be mass hysteria and public outrage.
mdolon··on Ask HN: Any high frequency trading hackers
It looks very interesting! If you need/want help with interface design and front-end of the application, shoot me an e-mail (my username at gmail).
mdolon··on HN, please critique: Business model for Skittles' Super Mega Rainbow Updater
The idea might work given the right circumstances but I think your numbers are a bit off - there's no way a call center employee can 2 or even 1 video a minute. You have to take into account mistakes they make (multiple takes) and editing, unless you plan on doing that yourself (or just have raw video). Also, you probably should charge more than 25 cents - that is such an awkwardly low number that it my deter people from using it ("do I really want a $.25 charge on my credit card?"), not to mention you wouldn't make any money with all the fees.

All that said, teenagers love digital interactivity, especially when it relates to chats and webcams. There's also room for something like this in the advertising space - I'd be willing to pay $2-3 to have someone record a 30-60 second YouTube video promoting my product.

mdolon··on Web Development on Windows 7: Essential Applications
This is what I've been using but I've found it to be incredibly glitchy, at least on IE8. At times it will recognize an element, sometimes it won't. Sometimes the document fails to load completely in the editor, even though the page has loaded fine in IE.
mdolon··on How I Create Websites: A Look Inside the Creative Process
I wrote the post because a friend of mine who is just starting to freelance wanted to know how I work. It's meant to be targeted at beginners and I agree, most people who have freelanced before should know most (if not all) of it. I do think they are still decent reminders, or at least I hope they are.

Anyways, I didn't expect it to hit the front page really but I guess some people are finding it somewhat useful/interesting.

mdolon··on $80,000 a Month in App Sales by Outsourcing Everything
Here's a link to the e-book they wrote and mentioned in the interview: http://www.freetheapps.com/create-iphone-apps/

It makes sense that they seemed somewhat reserved at certain points of the interview, they don't want to give away too much and make their e-book less useful.

mdolon··on Ask HN: Buying domains for side projects
Where do you get your domains for $7.50 a year? I remember GoDaddy used to have it that cheap but I think they've increased their prices recently, right?
mdolon··on Wikileaks dumps 400,000 more files
"Responsibility for an action rests with those who carry out that action."

And with those who directly influence and, in this case, potentially enable those who carry out the action. Using your logic you can justify a lot of things that are illegal in this world, since you yourself are not directly responsible. You don't have to literally pull the trigger to kill someone. (accomplices go to jail too)

mdolon··on AppSumo User Love Bundle Giveaway (Zendesk, GetSatisfaction, SnapEngage)
Hopefully this doesn't come off as being spammy (since it is a giveaway) - I know for a fact several HNers could really benefit from using these services on their websites. My site is still relatively small too, so the chances of getting one are pretty high.
mdolon··on HN Domain Exchange: Add your unused domains
I'd be willing to trade, sell or partner up to actually build the following domains/ideas:

- AggregateDesign.com

- BuyJives.com

- CampusAI.com - forum+wiki for college students (made UI for it a while back)

- Everyday(Arab|Latino|Desi).com - news sites/blogs for each community (also made UI and template for it)

- GameFav.com

- GradSchoolRejects.com - Forum for people who can't get into graduate school (what to do next, etc.)

- LinkCrap.com

- LinkTard.com

- nfektus.com - Social sharing site, automatically sends your link to n random friends on upvote

- ngamr.com - social games site?

- SoFound.com

- StartMyself.com

E-mail address is in profile, get in touch.

mdolon··on Ask HN: Inspirational money making web apps made by hackers.
Out of curiosity, when did you launch the site? Did you do any marketing or was it natural growth? I ask because the temporary inbox market seems pretty saturated already.
mdolon··on WANTED: Partner for existing web application
Just a side note but your similar movies algorithm seems to be way off with certain picks. For Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, included in the suggestions list are: Forrest Gump, The Prestige and Schindler's List among others.

Best of luck on that partner search, looks like an interesting idea (although competing with IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes).

mdolon··on It’s time to nut up or shut up
I think http://www.wpwebhost.com/ will likely be your biggest competitor (next to WP.com), however they seem more like a standard host that just installs WP for you.
mdolon··on Review my webapp: Leyzi (for music)
One problem I'm having so far is that volume seems to vary from song to song - I'm not sure if this is something that can be fixed but it can be pretty annoying at times.
mdolon··on Review my webapp: Leyzi (for music)
I like it, reminds me of Songza. The interface is nearly there too, in my opinion, just needs to be cleaned up (and colors changed please). Are you guys pulling songs from YouTube like Songza or some other source? Great work for two freshmen, keep it up!
mdolon··on NYC's Underground Grilled Cheese
Funny, I was just talking with a friend last night about the viability of a cheese sandwich cart/stall in NYC. They're extremely cheap to produce (plain wheat bread and Kraft singles) and when hot, are delicious snacks. I was thinking of a price point closer to $1, since you can easily get so much food in the city for around $5 (gyros, chicken w/ rice, etc). Interesting to see someone doing it already!
mdolon··on Goodbye (Crummy) CAPTCHAs. Hello Ad Dollars?
Their sign up page required me to watch a video in order to get the security code. While the code came up a couple of seconds into the video, I still dislike the thought of having to watch and wait for ads to somehow contribute to a website (be it through comments, sign ups, etc).
mdolon··on Ask HN: What does your development environment look like?
Ubuntu on VMWare = problem solved.
mdolon··on Digg freezes manual story submissions as user anger mounts
I see it happening but I don't fully understand it. Digg v4 has been in beta for weeks now, if it is as bad as people are claiming it is now shouldn't that have come up during the beta period? And if it did come up and if the changes have been this protested even in beta, they're pretty dumb to try and force it over anyways.

Anyways, one thing @kevinrose did Tweet correctly is that this isn't the first revolt on Digg. Chances are it'll blow over like the other ones but who knows, maybe history won't repeat itself.

mdolon··on QuickRead: A bookmarklet that adds Readability to every link
As a user this is an awesome tool, but as a content producer that relies on advertising revenue this is potentially a nightmare. While you can argue that it's similar to AdBlock, you're essentially 'forcing' the removal of ads on your users, whereas a browser plugin is optional and takes at least some work to install (finding it, installing and restarting browser). Just seems scary to imagine lots of websites picking this up, as that could kill advertising revenue for many sites.
mdolon··on Top 100 sites of 2010
From the article: "Here are our picks for the hottest Web sites and Web trends of the year, plus some old favorites to enjoy."

I didn't mention traffic at all, just that Wikileaks has received a lot of attention (both positive and negative). It has undoubtedly been highly impactful in our society, government and media. With all the media coverage in the last couple of months, it seems like it would have been an obvious choice.

mdolon··on Top 100 sites of 2010
Interesting how Wikileaks isn't on the list, considering the attention it's received lately.
mdolon··on Betaworks, Conway, And Sacca Embed $250,000 Into Embedly (YC W10)
I'm looking forward to seeing how this service will be monetized. I use it on one of my websites and it's great, however I'm not sure it's something I'd pay for just yet.
mdolon··on Ask HN: What are you working on (hacking)?
A new WordPress framework for a custom themes shop I'm building.
mdolon··on Ask HN: What are you working on (hacking)?
This is a cool project, throw in an iPhone app and improve the design/UI a bit and I can see it getting even more traction.
mdolon··on Frenzy As Delicious Founder Joshua Schachter Raises Round For New Startup
I wouldn't mind his first (fake) idea - creating operating systems for unmanned aerial vehicles is probably very lucrative given the right contracts/connections, plus it just sounds like it would be a very interesting project. Potential customers could include the DoD, North Korea or even the guys at Makani Power.
mdolon··on Ask HN: Who needs a job?
Thank you, I appreciate it! The portfolio is actually a bit outdated now, I've done some better work that I need to put on there soon.
mdolon··on Ask HN: Who needs a job?
I'm an interface designer and web developer looking for part-time or short-term gigs, based in NYC (for now).

mdolon··on Digg Vs. Reddit: The Infographic
This infographic was a brilliant move by the guys at RateRush.com. Not only did it hit the front page of Reddit they've now also been 'featured' on TechCrunch.
