The key to spacex's success is that they are not afraid of having rockets blow up during development. They launch, learn, iterate, launch again. I'm not sure how any sane person can argue with their results.
It's actually gotten a lot better in the last 3 or so years. Especially with power-profiles-daemon. I think it's pretty much at par with windows at this point. Assuming you are running an up to date kernel.
Proton is almost there. I actually prefer their web app to Gmail. The only things stopping me from fully endorsing it atm is the lack of a good Android app (current one doesn't have threaded emails) and no snooze. The app situation is supposed to be resolved sometime this year. Tbd on snooze though. They do have scheduled delete right now so not sure what the hold up is on that.
