maxcameron··on Taiwan ban single-use plastic straws, plastic bags, disposable utensils by 2030
My wife and I started a business built around helping people reduce the amount of single-use plastic they send to landfill. The zero waste movement is growing super fast. https://wildminimalist.com if anyone is interested.

maxcameron··on Ask HN: Are there voting rings operating on this site?
PG SEES ALL.
maxcameron··on Farewell Kera
Yes, we've received a few inquiries about that.
maxcameron··on Farewell Kera
That's dangerous ground Rahil - you should post an "Ask HN" instead of turning this into a shit-talk-a-thon.

Hey Maciek,

Thanks so much for the kind words. I totally get your point about the TO zombies, but on the other hand, companies like Nulayer are actually doing great work and are getting rewarded for hard work with success.

Here's to trying again.

I love this thread - it really encapsulates the debate around the product that was ever-present for us. Turns out it was fairly controversial...

One thing is for sure though - the problem of "user onboarding" and conversion exists, and people are actively trying to solve it.

Hopefully the folks from iridize, tutorialize.me, walkme, taurus, etc etc will be able to take up the reigns and build a scalable business around it.

Hey Noel,

Thanks for the kind words - you were one of our earliest adopters, and I'm sorry we couldn't make it work out. There's a few people who have reached out that are interested in the technology, so we'll have to wait and see about open sourcing it.

Best of luck with Happy Tables and give my best to the folks over at ClickBank!

maxcameron··on Web Apps Onboarding: How to Treat Your New Users
What about when Gmail moved to the new compose format? They totally did an overlay style walkthrough to get existing users accustomed to it.

Doesn't that undermine your argument and example?

maxcameron··on Why the Fuck?
Reginald strikes again!

But the real question is why a mind as bright as Reg is doing biz dev at a services company in Toronto? Shouldn't he be saving the world?

maxcameron··on How to Fix a Crappy Conversion Rate
Thanks Jason, I'm looking forward to results too :)
maxcameron··on How to Fix a Crappy Conversion Rate
No problem. The other big thing we're trying to tackle is how to move a customer through our activation funnel after they signup. That's another thing that is tricky when you have a half-baked product.
maxcameron··on If you see a good UI walkthrough - you probably didn't notice it

maxcameron··on Ask HN: Can I visit your startup in SF?
It isn't really something people search for. It's going to be word of mouth until our category solidifies.

What are you working on these days?
