mauriciob··on iPhone Air
Reminds me of the fun times of dropping the phone and having the phone go to one side, battery to the other and back cover to a third place.
mauriciob··on Apple wins $250 US jury verdict in patent case over Masimo smartwatches
That’s a separate case (Masimo suing Apple) which is still ongoing. Apple countersued to try to block Masimo from releasing their own smartwatch, this article refers to this case.
mauriciob··on Multipath TCP for Linux (2022)
How would routing be done without source/destination? When the device changes networks, how does the origin and all routers along the way know that this device is on a new network?
mauriciob··on The Corvette that Windows zip folders bought
No, they’re saying that they would use the built-in ZIP support if it was performant enough. Since it isn’t performant due to design limitations, they have to use 7zip.
mauriciob··on Gmail, Yahoo announce new 2024 authentication requirements for bulk senders
Wrong address is one reason. For example, I receive transactional emails from a US-based ISP for someone else and the only way to unsubscribe is calling their customer service line. I’m not even in the same country.
mauriciob··on How long does a freezer stay frozen when the power goes out?
Depending on freezer contents.
mauriciob··on Researchers Created Fake 'Master' Fingerprints to Unlock Smartphones
This is the problem I have. If there’s just a little sweat on my finger, it stops working.
mauriciob··on Even After Fix, Windows 10 Update Is Botching File Operations
Users can opt out of the targeted updates, so they will update only after the version is consolidated.

Companies and government should not be using the targeted version at all.

It's not an excuse for the issues, but it's not a big problem for companies as you make it seem.

mauriciob··on macOS Mojave Drains Battery Like Never Before
After the update, macOS will start reindexing everything. It’s normal to use more power due to this.

They should check if that behavior continues after a few days, not hours after the update.

mauriciob··on iOS 12 introduces new features to reduce interruptions and manage Screen Time
Maybe. But there is room for improvement on the notifications, there is no reason why the phone needs to ring and vibrate on every notification.

If it notified the user a few seconds ago, it should have a delay until the next ring/vibration.

mauriciob··on Google Duplex: An AI System for Accomplishing Real World Tasks Over the Phone
People are prejudiced against talking to bots because of how bad they are currently. I despise calling services that have voice recognition, often times it's easier to have an options menu.

If they can get a way of saying "I'm a bot" without people hanging up the calls, I'm all for it -- otherwise, "I'm calling for a client" or similar is the best for everyone involved (assuming everything works).

Businesses also need to have a way to report problems to Google, like if they are getting spammed by Duplex or want to opt out.

mauriciob··on Windows 10 could have synced email, contacts, calendars with all major providers
In addition, albeit a stupid conclusion, by supporting all major email providers, they are supporting the majority of email users around the world.
mauriciob··on Signal partners with Microsoft to bring end-to-end encryption to Skype
They made a decision to ditch P2P and route all calls through their servers. Local calls would fall into the "P2P" umbrella.
mauriciob··on Google Allo is now available on the web
Security. It's token based.
mauriciob··on Summary of the Amazon S3 Service Disruption
It is now indexed by Google, at least. Doesn't look like they are actively trying to hide it.
mauriciob··on Show HN: Does it use Cloudflare?
It's not that easy. Not all CNAME clients used the three services that had the issue.

These lists are bad, because they list any Cloudflare clients that can be found, not just the ones that might have had exposed data.

mauriciob··on Microsoft hosts the Windows source in a monstrous 300GB Git repository
It's on the first paragraph of your link:

> For example, the Windows codebase has over 3.5 million files and is over 270 GB in size.

mauriciob··on AVG says my programs are viruses (2012)
Microsoft Security Essentials, since Windows XP. It's been replaced (incorporated) by Windows Defender on Windows 10.
mauriciob··on Deck.gl: Large-Scale WebGL-Powered Data Visualization
I get 20 fps on Safari, 30 fps on Chrome on my Mid-2013 MacBook Air, still running El Capitan.
mauriciob··on Flickr gets new UI, new Android app, 1 TB free space
Nope. Gone again.
mauriciob··on All Linodes are now 8 core
Anyone looking for more information can see the blog post[1] or HN thread[2].

mauriciob··on Using SimCity to diagnose my home town's traffic problem
I don't think that's an option when you have neighboring cities that are played by other people.

I believe your city will impact theirs and vice-versa.

mauriciob··on Valve starts promoting Steam for Linux to Windows users
In addition, it's on the "About" page.

I can't remember the last time I opened it.

mauriciob··on Show HN: I spent two years working on an HTML5 game. I finally released it
I have developed a Flash "library" for a web application and I really liked it, but I could never do much in Flash because creating a UI is a pain.

AIR is a great idea, but it would be way better (for me, at least) if they incorporated a decent HTML/CSS rendering engine that had the same potential as the ones we see on modern browsers.

mauriciob··on Why American Phone, Cable and Internet Bills are so High
Or just: chrome://chrome/settings/content > Plug-ins > Click to play.
mauriciob··on Why American Phone, Cable and Internet Bills are so High
On Chrome, go here: chrome://chrome/settings/content

Then on Plugins, select 'Click to play'.

mauriciob··on 3x faster linux boot with e4rat
The replacement is always better... somehow.
mauriciob··on Jury in Oracle v. Google has reached a verdict on all questions but one
From the comments:

The form says only to answer 4 if they answered YES to 1A, Google _has_
  infringed the SSO
Having a Jury with no technical knowledge would obviously lead to this.
mauriciob··on Making the Web Faster with HTTP 2 Protocol
Maybe close the connection when it hasn't been used for a while?
mauriciob··on JS performance: try / catch versus checking for undefined
So... it IS fast.

It seems they are doing a good work.
