matthew-craig··on Htmx 4.0
What about vibe coding makes HTMX something that you speak about in the past tense? Are you just generating frontends in vanilla JS now?
matthew-craig··on Emacs, how it all started for me
Having a good completion package (e.g. `vertico` + `unordered`) goes a long way to finding stuff. I regularly find new functions and variables by calling describe-function and describe-command and just searching/auto-completing my way to what I need. It gets even better with the `helpful` package which improves the layout/features of help pages a lot.
matthew-craig··on Claude Fable 5: mid-tier results on coding tasks
You're in the massively subsidized camp. They're going to move Fable off of the subscription tiers to API-only. $10 per million tokens in and $50 per million tokens will get expensive quickly; considering it burns through thousands of tokens thinking itself in circles with no way to follow along.
matthew-craig··on Shell Tricks That Make Life Easier (and Save Your Sanity)
The example confusingly includes some weird markup. It's just saying press `ESC-?` then type "window" to search for window commands. These isn't even valid in modern Emacs. The equivalent is `C-h` followed by `a` then type "window".

matthew-craig··on RSS.Social – the latest and best from small sites across the web
This could be an interesting answer to "what sites are like Hacker News but with more diverse topics". All you'd need is a upvotes/downvotes and a comments section.
matthew-craig··on Live Stream from the Namib Desert
Interestingly, I see that the watering hole is available on Google street view: 24°04'29.7"S 15°53'14.7"E
matthew-craig··on Kotlin-Lsp: Kotlin Language Server and Plugin for Visual Studio Code
I currently rock a setup, as a Java dev, where I do as much as I can in emacs but have a binding to jump to the current line in Intellij. I find myself switching between the 2 without too much friction. It's mostly just committing in Intellij and having pre-commit checks analyze my changes.
matthew-craig··on Kotlin-Lsp: Kotlin Language Server and Plugin for Visual Studio Code
This is amazing news. The inability to write Kotlin in emacs was the only thing stopping me from using the language.

I really hope that this means that we can some day get a Jetbrains Java LSP. I would pay for an Intellij Ultimate subscription just to get access to such a thing.
