matchstickman23··on Apple's Dimensional Drawings
I always loved designing accessories for Apple products specifically because of these documents. It seemed that at one point Google wanted to do the same thing with their Pixel line, but you had to apply to view the data and I was never allowed to see it. So I never actually got to find out if Google did the same.
matchstickman23··on Cartesian – AI 3D Modeling for Design
This is how LLMs have been since the beginning. They can be really okay at the most surface level information, but as soon as you dig any bit beyond that, it all falls apart. Inquire any chatbot about something that you're an expert in and it becomes quickly apparent.

I'm here for using LLMs to take some of the tedium out of product design/mechanical engineering, but I just haven't seen a good proof of concept yet. It always seems to be some variation of "Design a sphere. Oh wow, this is incredible!"

matchstickman23··on Rivian's gambit for full autonomy
I was behind someone just the other week that was actively scrolling tiktok/reels while driving on a 3-lane road during rush hour with what appeared to be at least 2 kids in the back.
matchstickman23··on Keychron announces first open-source firmware for gaming mice
Very interesting. I've been eyeballing a mouse/trackball project for a while based on some of the open source designs like Ploopy and the like. Slap a Nordic chip on it and a joycon battery. Even better if you can cook up a wireless charging mousepad like Logitech offers!
matchstickman23··on Stop Killing the Internet: No Digital ID and No Age Verification
From what?
matchstickman23··on The EU is about to sell our most sensitive data to the US for visa-free travel
Yeah, I've been using my Nexus card, but I've flown with people who forgot their passport and didn't have RealID and they just have you go to a website, pay $45, and show them you've paid and you're on your way. It's very secure :)
matchstickman23··on The EU is about to sell our most sensitive data to the US for visa-free travel
Not to mention that to get around RealID with flights, you just have to pay $45 and you're good to go. Since we all know that bad actors don't have access to that sort of money...
matchstickman23··on I built a ceiling projection mapping of the planes flying over my house
I can't imagine it would take too much to pull that sort of real information, no? Like, what celestial objects are overhead, constellations, satellites, etc

EDIT: OH! Looks like it's already configured for that!
