I feel engineers tend to convolute the codebase by adding tons of unnecessary code instead of just modifying the existing code to work.

Another thing that has been plaguing our industry is tons of if statements to cover edge cases instead of thinking about the ways you can avoid them by writing proper logic and general equations.

I use a wide variety of greetings, most notably: "Ahoi", "How you've been?", "What's cooking?", "What gives?", "Beautiful day today, ain't it?".

Having at least one extroverted person in the call helps though, sometimes it's weird if no one replies.

I did the same thing OP did, limited my phone to hackernews, blind and linkedin.

I find hackernews and blind invaluable in terms of career growth and networking.

I think a lot of professors in European universities use it for weekly tests (10% of your final score). Case in point, I went to 2 universities in 2 different countries and more than 3 professors in each used it like that.

Logo turtle in primary school was fun. I could draw with it better than by hand. What motivated me was that I wanted to be better than everyone else in class. Touch typing, first to finish assignments.

From first grade of highschool we learned python. Python was amazing, helped me do math and physics homeworks. I used it for everything I now use wolfram alpha for.
