masterleep··on Ask HN: What're the worst-designed things you've ever used?
The Apple TV remote control has to be up there, because clearly it was designed for use in a lab rather than a darkened room.
masterleep··on List of falsehoods programmers believe in
The ideological ones are really horrible.
masterleep··on [dead]
The U.S. regulatory and legal system is badly in need of some kind of garbage collection mechanism.
masterleep··on McDonalds answers $15 minimum wage with the Big Mac ATM
Perhaps governments shouldn't try so vigorously to make it expensive and legally risky to hire people?
masterleep··on IPv6 Support for AWS Extended to 15 Regions
Improved connectivity to mobile due to avoiding triangular routing.
masterleep··on IPv6 Support for AWS Extended to 15 Regions
It's sad that Google Cloud Platform is behind on this.
masterleep··on Ask HN: What's stopping you from using Firefox as your primary browser?
Occasionally Firefox has had terrible performance problems on macOS.
masterleep··on Minimum Wages Set to Increase in Many States in 2017
Bad news for the low skilled. Good news for highly paid engineers.
masterleep··on Apple to slice iPhone production 10% due to sluggish sales
totally agree. The home button has also become an object of mystery. It seems to have several functions too many, and it's always doing one I don't want.
masterleep··on Apple to slice iPhone production 10% due to sluggish sales
The 7 is really extremely boring, and the haptic button feels terrible.
masterleep··on California to drivers: Starting Sunday, don’t hold that cellphone
Some of this actually makes sense, but it should be legal to hold and use your phone while stopped at a red light.
masterleep··on Los Angeles Drivers on the 405 Ask: Was $1.6B Worth It?
If you replaced "unfortunate" with "fortunate", then I would agree with your statement.
masterleep··on Safari Technology Preview supports 100% of the ES2015/16/17 features
Chrome looks really ugly, like it was designed by a programmer.
masterleep··on Uber Now Tracks Passengers’ Locations Even After They’re Dropped Off
There is no chance whatsoever that I'm going to give Uber access to my location while not using the app, so this just makes it harder to me to be a customer.
masterleep··on [dead]
A spectacular self-beclowning.
masterleep··on Grubhub CEO Asks Staffers with 'Hateful Attitudes' to Resign After Trump Win
“I absolutely reject the nationalist, anti-immigrant and hateful politics of Donald Trump and will work to shield our community from this movement as best as I can,” wrote Matt Maloney, who co-founded the company. “If you do not agree with this statement then please reply to this email with your resignation because you have no place here."

It's easy to agree with that statement regardless of what you personally believe. The statement simply describes what the CEO believes. For example, I agree that Matt Maloney rejects those policies.

masterleep··on The People's Code
Horrible name - the Federal Government of the United States is not "the People".
masterleep··on 5 Systemd Tools You Should Start Using Now
systemd-nspawn containers are fun also. You can use them to run Ubuntu 16.10 processes on Ubuntu 16.04, among many other things.
masterleep··on Running containers without Docker
Doesn't systemd do that already (via machinectl, e.g.)?
masterleep··on Running containers without Docker
Try systemd containers (e.g, systemd-nspawn) if you're on a systemd distro like Ubuntu 16.04.
masterleep··on Debian Security Advisory: nginx security update
yes:

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nginx/1.10.0-0ubuntu0.1...

masterleep··on The 2016 Election
If you believe that Clinton has a greater propensity to start or inflame wars, and that wars are a greater evil than racism or sexism, then it may well be unethical to support her. It may even be an ethical duty to support Trump.
masterleep··on Proposal of a new concurrency model for Ruby 3 [pdf]
How would you use this to parallelize Rails requests? I guess you would need a pool of guilds, each with its own set of controllers, etc.

Since the requests would not be in the "main" guild, it might be painful to call into gems.

masterleep··on Hardening Compiler Flags for NixOS
What if you care more about unsafe pointer access than speed?
masterleep··on University of Chicago: ‘We Do Not Support So-Called Trigger Warnings’
That's the kind of absurd oversensitivity that opponents of trigger warnings are against.
masterleep··on Large UDP packets in IPv6 [pdf]
Send more than one packet?
masterleep··on Pillow-SIMD: improving the performance of image processing
What if you don't care about speed, but you do care about not embedding strange scripting languages from the mid-1990s that can write files and make network requests?
masterleep··on San Andreas fault 'ready' with big earthquake, expert says
Given that seismic upgrades have been underway for decades, I'm not sure what you mean by "minimally prepared."
masterleep··on ‘Utopia for Realists?’ – a review
It might actually be a bad idea to build that wall since Americans will be desperate to get to Mexico for that UBI and 15 hour work week.
masterleep··on Are We Living in a Computer Simulation?
An outside force converting everything to computronium at our early level of development wouldn't be good game design.
