Seriously guys we're gonna drop 2.

martiuk··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (July 2014)
Location: West Midlands, UK / Remote

Technologies: Full Stack .NET, Python (Flask, a little Django), Java, Android, Experience with Windows & Unix-like OSes.

Resume: (Please Contact)

Email: m[dot]kemp2910[at]gmail[dot]com

I'm young and an extremely quick learner with blue-sky thinking. I'm hoping to develop in a faced paced environment with the latest and greatest technologies.

martiuk··on Tech is moving too fast for me: I'm out.
I'm the opposite, I'm in the enterprise .NET game and it's frustrating to be working with old versions of software, with the usual excuse of "We've always done it this way".

I'm a python enthusiast and have written Android apps, but I don't think my hobbyist programming could get me a job in those areas.

martiuk··on Google now knows your Parental Status? Creepy much?
This isn't anything new but an event such as a pregnancy causes a big change in someone's behaviour, off and online. Target has already done it. http://www.forbes.com/sites/kashmirhill/2012/02/16/how-targe...
martiuk··on On Mining
As P2P mining pools are becoming more prominent, these situations should eventually stop happening, since P2P pools are themselves decentralised.
martiuk··on Taking England back to the Dark Ages
Very Crusader Kings 2.

I would love to be a citizen of the Kingdom of Mercia[1], the devolution of power to bring national issues closer to the people that live there, are great reasons.

martiuk··on Linux for Lettuce
GNU/Lettuce.

This has always interested me, how can someone claim to invent a specific seed based on a characteristics that could very well become realised naturally.

Hopefully the OSSI becomes a leading force to help get higher yield seeds into farmer's hands. As we already know, the world's population is growing and the it's arable land isn't getting any larger.

martiuk··on Violent computer games blunt teenagers emotions
30 teenagers at that.
martiuk··on Bounden on Android delayed, needs help
Because you're losing out on 80% of the mobile market.
martiuk··on Computer-related horror stories, folklore and anecdotes (1990)
Last bit is definitely correct, since hydrofluoric acid is HF in solution with water.

HF is produced in Pyrolysis of Teflon[1], so I wouldn't say 100% myth busted.

martiuk··on Talk of an Internet Fast Lane Is Already Hurting Some Startups
Way ahead of you: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-26865869
martiuk··on Internet at NPR (1994)
Who even puts a dash between the e and mail nowadays?

"I'll just email you instead"

martiuk··on Band releases album as kernel module
What about Java? NetCatAbstractSingletonProxyFactoryBean
martiuk··on Compile-time raytracer written in the D
I'm sorry your specific feelings were hurt, but I found it mildly amusing.
martiuk··on Resume Republic – Awesome Online Resume Templates
I've used a LaTeX CV before and usually (probably 100% of the time) the recruiter wants a .doc to edit in lies rather than the pdf.

Probably why you can get called into an interview for a job you don't have the experience for sometimes.

martiuk··on Moto 360
I don't see why they won't treat this like Glass, where it's the same sort of experience on iOS and Android.
martiuk··on 2048 Numberwang
The pilot debuted on BBC α
martiuk··on A simple way to "get more people to code"
Just pay extra money to all programmers.
martiuk··on Two Factor Auth List
I would change custom to not show red if it doesn't exist.

It gives off an impression that it's bad that they don't have their own custom solution to 2FA.

martiuk··on Ask HN: What Linux distro do you use for work, and why?
Technically I (have to) use Windows for work but for real 'work' I use Arch and push to an Ubuntu server if it needs to.
martiuk··on Helloworld program in 100+ langauges
Probably chef.

https://github.com/Prithvirajbilla/helloworld/blob/master/ch...

The best (esoteric) programming language.

martiuk··on Microsoft Virtual Academy
You'd be surprised, since the company I work for uses Microsoft for nearly everything, they'll gladly jump onto anything Microsoft technology-wise. Heck I had to convince most of my colleagues that an open-source library wasn't the end of the world.
martiuk··on Gitter, chat for GitHub, is now public beta
Any word on either a. an android client or b. an API to make an android client with?
