They've been coasting since then. Difference sizes of the same product. The watch was about as far as they've wandered out of their comfort zone.
There are sandboxes (like the lab) and then actual games (Portal, HL, L4D...)
Sounds like Andy Grove was a work horse.
I'm always impressed when someone is skilled at both hardware and software to make a finished product. It's Woz-like.
Very impressive work.
There was a low barrier to entry. Anyone could start a BBS. Since there were so few, any new BBS would have a flood of new users, making them successfully very quickly.
The slowness created an exciting anticipation.
Before making a 'qualified' statement, get your facts straight first.
My issue is with the developed software and database design. Although the software is custom written, many mainframe developers do not understand the concepts of modern programming and do not improve over time. Once they learn a concept (sometimes 30 years in the past), they continue to develop this way, rather than improving as it is outside their comfort zone. They are not open to new concepts or ideas. When you have a team of developers doing this over several decades, you end up with a big ball of mud. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_ball_of_mud
Trying to port a big ball of mud to another language is very difficult, which contributes to mainframe developer job security and monolithic, antiquated systems. Modern developers are very particular to code portability, readability and modern concepts. Hopefully this is just in my experience and not common across other mainframe developers.
Parenting and selflessness was apparently not Steve's forte.
If he worked on parenting as fervently as he worked at his job (heck, even 25% as much), this article would have a completely different tone.
What a gift to be a part of it! Keep these coming Chris!
Steve put so much effort into giving Apple products life, figuratively. For example, he would call the iphone, "iphone", not "an iphone" and was adamant about it. Almost giving existence to it. Also, the way he introduced products was brilliant. He was a master at teasing the public and peaking interest prior to product launch.
Where Microsoft would release products akin to the Zune..in brown, or products with unmemorable names like 'Surface Pro x', with very little marketing. I've always thought MS has interesting products and they have been first to market many times. However, due to lack of marketing, they didn't gain traction.
How does watching others have sex enable more discussion on healthy body image? Why can't this conversation be started with images seen anywhere that have been altered?
Let's discuss the negatives. Porn is anti-woman. It turns the woman into an object. You mention 'damaging relationships' by not watching sex. It is exactly the opposite. Porn damages current and future relationships by turning the woman (or man in some cases) into an object for personal pleasure, similar to a toy. A relationship founded on using each other for personal reasons, and not mutual respect and love, will only fail, and fail painfully. Not to mention any 'baggage' such as STDs, pregnancies, etc.
These are the mistakes are what we aim to prevent our children from making until they reach a point of maturity to where they can reliably prevent them on their own.
