You're being weirdly hostile.
marknutter··on What Hallucinogens Will Make You See (2023)
Wear a mouthguard.

I bought iPod socks back in the day and loved them. I used them for more than just my iPod, like my Palm pilot and my digital camera :)
marknutter··on iPhone Pocket
The phones are incredibly tough, I have never used a case and I've only cracked my screen once and that was like 8 years ago.

I'm sitting here trying to figure out why you haven't sent 90% of your income to the poor people in Sudan.

No it doesn't. He's establishing the fact that he can afford very expensive clothes and why, from personal experience, he believes them to be worth it if you can afford it. If you omit the entire sentence the whole meaning of the post changes. I think you may just be upset because he's wealthier than you.
marknutter··on LLMs are steroids for your Dunning-Kruger
For obscure things, it's often very hard to find videos like that, and the videos vary greatly in quality. ChatGPT helped me fix my washing machine and my dryer yesterday with perfect advice, walking me through every step. Those are both projects I would've made a half assed attempt at and then thrown my hands up and called someone to do in the past.

Start your own company that supports unionization. Problem solved.

Nobody is anti-immigrant outside of a small pocket of anti-H1B folks in the tech community. People are, however, anti-illegal-immigrant, which is completely different.
marknutter··on How I bypassed Amazon's Kindle web DRM
If you're going to just borrow it from a library, then why not just pirate it? The author/publisher isn't getting paid in either case, and libraries are 1000x less convenient than pirating.

You're all over this thread smearing people with the term "fascist". You do more to hurt your cause with histrionics like that than you understand.
marknutter··on Gem.coop
Dismissing someone's opinion because they compare those they don't agree with to literal fascists is not the same as dismissing someone's opinion because they do that. One leads to people being targeted for violence and potentially assassinated, the other calls out incitement to political violence.
marknutter··on Gem.coop
It's not. People use the term "fascism" to at best smear those who they disagree with and at worst incite violence against them.
marknutter··on Gem.coop
Do you really not understand how unhinged you sound when you resort to such histrionics?
marknutter··on Gem.coop
That's the part where the term "fascist" is misused to smear somebody they disagree with. It can be safely ignored.
marknutter··on Gem.coop
Ah. So just good old fashioned bigotry.
marknutter··on Gem.coop
It's absolutely comparable. They both involve limiting rights and freedoms.
marknutter··on New Mexico is first state in US to offer universal child care
I would've thought we'd eventually move past the point of accusing people of "concern trolling" whenever they have a legitimate counterpoint, but here we are.
marknutter··on New Mexico is first state in US to offer universal child care
There is something sad about not spending as much time as you possibly can with your children in their younger years, though.
marknutter··on Neuralink 'Participant 1' says his life has changed
"anyone who can think critically leans towards the Democratic party" isn't something anyone who's actually intelligent would ever say.
marknutter··on Neuralink 'Participant 1' says his life has changed
It will never cease to amaze me how some people think they can know somebody the've never met as well as you think you do. I attribute it to projection.
marknutter··on US Wholesale Inflation Rises by Most in 3 Years
McDonald's was never sourcing chicken for their chicken nuggets from outside the country.
marknutter··on US Wholesale Inflation Rises by Most in 3 Years
Tariffs don't affect products that are produced locally.
marknutter··on AI promised efficiency. Instead, it's making us work harder
> We will never run out of the problems that need solving. The types of problems you spend your time solving will change. The key is to adapt your process to allocate your time to solving the right kinds of problems. You don’t want the be the person taking an hour to do arithmetic by hand, when you have access to spreadsheets.

And this has always been the case throughout all of human history.

marknutter··on Building better AI tools
That's exactly the point I stopped reading too.
marknutter··on I used o3 to profile myself from my saved Pocket links
It's nearly impossible to determine whether or not someone is expressing a concern in good faith, so what ends up happening is people getting silenced for diverting even slightly from the dominant narrative because nobody is ever given the benefit of the doubt.
marknutter··on What Will Become of the CIA?
Agreed
marknutter··on What will become of the CIA?
Sounds good to me
marknutter··on What will become of the CIA?
> Hopefully the rule of law and democracy since the current POTUS is undermining those

The current POTUS is doing neither of those things.

marknutter··on I used o3 to profile myself from my saved Pocket links
"Concern troll" is usually just at term that people who want zero pushback lob at people who don't agree with them 100% of the time.
