markmywords··on Must-See JavaScript Dev Tools
Oh dear, these splash images are getting out of hand :)))
markmywords··on Squib: A Ruby DSL for prototyping card and board games
Thanks for sharing, this looks really nice. Does anyone know similar projects that help with developing card- and/or boardgames?
markmywords··on Twilio and 99designs Join This Week's AppSumo Lean Startup Bundle
Awesome deal. Thank you very much for this one! I am busy redeeming everything. Some stuff might not be useful for customers outside of the US. Maybe "geographic deals" might be an interesting idea for a future bundle? :)
markmywords··on Reddit ‘excited’ about chance to eat Digg’s lunch
And it is noticeable in the constant decrease in quality of both submissions and comments. Just compare the scribb.ly discussion here to the one on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/d8ph4/building_...

Granted, one can circumvent a lot of nonsense on reddit by carefully selecting and managing subreddit subscriptions but in the end I find myself unsubscribing from more and more reddits over time.

markmywords··on The Python yield keyword explained
Thank you for linking this. It may not be hot news or a trendy topic but it was a very good read and a good refresher :)
markmywords··on Ask HN: Good Java books for aspiring Clojurians?
Both of these are great :)
markmywords··on Stack Overflow Fatigue
Yes, it leads to better results than using the Stack Overflow search.
markmywords··on Forrst: Stack Overflow Meets Tumblr
Also looking for an invite. Email is in my profile :)
markmywords··on Linode Turns 7, Big RAM Increase
Time to move my last few servers from Slicehost to Linode.
markmywords··on O'Reilly is selling any eBook for $9.99 today
Thanks for writing such a great book. One of the treasures in my (ever growing) collection and I am even citing it in one of my papers I currently write :)
markmywords··on Why aren’t you contributing (To Python)?
Do you have a link to share?
markmywords··on HN Hackers: Add Yourself
You can reclaim your account by clicking the "Lost password?" link, I guess.
markmywords··on HN Contractors: Add Yourself
Lots of low rates ...
markmywords··on Bootstrapping by freelancing
If I am not too late to the party, I would also like to establish contact. We are also working on a bootstrapped startup, so maybe we can offer some interesting tasks. :)

E-Mail address is in my profile.

markmywords··on What if the greatest athlete alive decided to actually get serious?
Another thing to take into consideration is how prize money is awarded in track and field competitions: There is most of the times a separate amount of prize money awarded for breaking a world record as all hosts of competitions would love to see new world records set in "their" events. This prize money is often higher than the regular prize money for winning.

So for an athlete it makes kind of sense to try and set new world records in incremental steps in order to earn as much prize money as possible. It also might lead to more frontpage cover stories in the long run.

That being said, this might not 100% apply to Usain Bolt as he is already a popular figure contesting in a very popular discipline of track and fields but it might make sense for an athlete of a less popular discipline like Triple Jump.

markmywords··on Why I Never Let Employees Negotiate a Raise
Sorry for the inconvenience. I experienced no kinds of popups when reading the article (Firefox+Ubuntu). I would not have had submitted the article otherwise.
markmywords··on Ask HN: From what countries do people use HN beside USA?
Austria
markmywords··on DjangoCon Europe: tickets, talk submission open for registration
I am really interested but not sure if it is for me. I currently do lots of Django work but due to contract reasons contribute little to Floss projects and I don't know a lot of other Django hackers personally. Also I would have to pay for myself. Hmmm.
markmywords··on Fire the “web designer”
Unfortunately it is 2010 and I still see many "print folder websites" being made with fixed aspect ratios and even the dreaded flash intros experience a second wind here lately. And designers with experience/focus on web application design are very rare. Always looking for them ;)
markmywords··on _why's Estate
I too would like to know. His work was just plain awesome!
markmywords··on Zsh: The last shell you will ever need
Haha, same here. I was on the edge for a long time. There goes my Sunday now ;)
markmywords··on Brand building mistakes France’s (and most International) entrepreneurs make
If you follow these steps you raise awareness in the USA while potentially neglecting your home country of operations. Scoble should not discount the local context.
markmywords··on http://to/ World's Shortest URL Shortener
Thx, got confused by the dot after "to" for a second.
markmywords··on http://to/ World's Shortest URL Shortener
Can someone give me a quick introduction on how this was done?
markmywords··on Performance comparison between EC2, Slicehost, Linode, Rackspace Cloud, Prgmr
Well, I do not switch because my slice keeps being online and available for almost two years now. "Never change a running system" ;).

I do, however, also have a Linode VPS and will probably go with additional Linode VPS' in the future if the service continues to be stable.

In my humble opinion, Slicehost offered a great deal two years ago but they should adjust their plans in the future or customers will move to competitors.
