mario_lopez··on Ask HN: Does a good "read it later" app exist?
I’m working on a platform like this - a Pocket (RIP) alternative with some added features.

The kicker is multi-platform support, since I also want the ability to browse from mobile and web, with the extension to easily add while browsing and native Share To to save links on mobile.

I’m working on reminders and daily emails for myself. I’ll prioritize this.

Site is up as well as Chrome Extension. Apps are built and ready to be published, just need some time to get them submitted to their respective stores.

The biggest feature that was missing when I was testing the closed beta was Window Management! Hope that made / makes it into this version of the app soon.

Great piece of software and proud to advocate for its use on macOS to anyone willing to listen.

"They tell Breivik to lie on the ground, and handcuff him. The terrorist tells them that one of his fingers hurt, and asks for a band aid."

Wow.

As chilling as this all is, I appreciate you sharing.

I think we really have to take a step back away from this annoying scrolling / auto-moving element behavior for product info pages. I had a moment where my mouse was chasing a moving 'Loans' tile.
mario_lopez··on Piped: A privacy-friendly YouTube front end which is efficient by design
This is my preferred option: Simply pay (in the worst case, a subscription, in the best case, a one-time fee) to get rid of the ads. If I spend more than 10 hours a week on a platform (e.g. YouTube, Reddit, Twitch), I will gladly pay to keep the ads away.

I only wish Gmail gave me the option to do this.

mario_lopez··on Heart inflammation cases in young men higher than expected after mRNA vaccines
Agreed. Context matters here.

I'd hate for this to get blown out of proportion like the blood clot issue did, causing massive confidence declines in places all over, especially those struggling to roll out vaccines and keep their COVID cases under control.

Obviously, if the numbers are alarming, we must react accordingly.

Funny enough, just a few posts above this one on the front page is another blog post entitled "Want a killer product? Become more opinionated". Found that to be a nice coincidence.

I think allowing customization of the UI is a great feature set to provide, and it aligns quite well with the imagine Mozilla has set up for itself as an organization. Though, I can see how the teams behind these decisions would want to stray away from having their 'product identity' be something you can easily turn off.

Neat stuff in the ToS, wonder how strict they are on following these regulations
