Location: Haguenau, Alsace, France

Willing to relocate: Yes

Technologies: C# (ASP.NET MVC mostly, but not exclusively), PHP, Javascript, Microsoft Dynamics ERPs

Resume: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8ab3izu0sk4fkg8/resume.pdf?dl=0

About me: Full-stack web developer with four years of experience. I’ve mostly worked with .NET on enterprisey applications and ERPs but I'm quite open to other environments.

manuletroll··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired?
Strasbourg, France, Remote / Relocation, Full-time or contracting

Stack: C#, ASP.NET MVC, Python, JS

Contact: manu@clementz.io

I'm looking to escape the world of ERPs. Though my day job is mostly Microsoft-based stuff, I've done a lot of Javascript recently (with React mostly) as well as some Python. I'm open to relaction about anywhere in Europe.

manuletroll··on Webhook – demolishes Kickstarter target
The whole thing looks very nice but the fact that the resulting sites must be deployed on their servers is a deal-breaker for me.
manuletroll··on You have ruined JavaScript
I use bootstrap quite a lot and I have no idea what you're talking about regarding the class names. That probably wasn't a bootstrap-related problem. Overriding the styles is a bit of a PITA, but using the LESS or Sass version solves this.
manuletroll··on Build Tools – Make, no more
I had the same full-screen thing on mobile; on the desktop it's indeed as you described.
manuletroll··on Don't design your own REST back end
ServiceStack is great but the recent licensing change is irritating to say the least.
manuletroll··on The Mobile Browser Is Dead, Long Live The App
Awesome, now even more sites will try and force me to download their shitty app when all I want is to read a fucking article! No wonder no one uses the mobile web when every other site does stuff like that.
manuletroll··on Rando app alternative – PhotoSuerte
Yet another site with no description at all of what the app does. This trend is getting old. It's a shame because the principle is nice:

PhotoSuerte is the popular app that lets you chat with others all through the use of photos. Simply snap a picture and instantly it will be sent anonymously to someone at random located around the world. Once that person responds you can go back and forth with photos.

Though as it seems to requires logging in with a facebook account, I'll pass.

manuletroll··on iGo: a new Syntax for GoLang
For some reason I find this less readable than the original syntax. I couldn't say why, as I quite like Python or Coffeescript.
manuletroll··on Soundslice – Living Sheet Music
> This is not an open-source project that succeeds and fails on the whims of its developers

This is on the licensing page. So not being open-source is now a strong selling point these days, apparently.

manuletroll··on TrackR
For some reason I read that as TrackIR..

On a more relevant side it definitely looks interesting as I lose stuff very easily.

manuletroll··on Grid Style Sheets – CSS polyfills from the future
Well, that sure cleared things up.
manuletroll··on Show HN: SqlSmash, A productivity plugin for Sql Server Management Studio
This looks nice, I'll probably take a look at it as I spend an unfortunate amount of time in SQLSMS.

As an aside, I would have liked to be able to know a bit about the plugin's features without needing to watch a video (but I guess you'll certainly flesh out the website once the plugin is ready to be sold).

manuletroll··on Netflix disables use of the Chrome developer console
He may have been referring to the trailers included in DVDs and such. But here in France I think we also have piracy warnings in theatres now. As usual, the customer is the victim.
manuletroll··on Show HN: Custom Nginx Indexer
Very nice, the fact that only requires an nginx module (which I didn't know existed) is a big plus in my book. I will definitely be using this.
manuletroll··on We Have Luxurious Jobs but We Are Not Aware of It
Indeed, and I certainly don't need $100K either. I don't even live in an area where the cost of living is especially high, but I currently make less than what I was earning working on an assembly line in a factory. While I'm not dirt-poor I'm unable to make any savings or plans for the future. As I don't have much aside, I can't really try my luck in a better area as moving is not free. At least I'm only responsible for myself, so there's that.
manuletroll··on We Have Luxurious Jobs but We Are Not Aware of It
While this might be true for a large portion of HN's audience, there are also developers stuck in shitty positions in countries where making $100K writing software is a pipe dream. I'd be happy if I was paid a third of that.
manuletroll··on Mono 3.2.7 is out
Nancy is indeed an excellent framework, I use it for practically every web project at my day job these days.
manuletroll··on Frameworkless JavaScript
I think the focus on file size comes from the fact that moot is supposed to be embedded on sites, much like Disqus.
manuletroll··on Code & Conquer: A War Game for Coders
Well this looks like it might be fun but it hasn't launched yet, so..
manuletroll··on Lua.vm.js
Does anyone know of a good "compile to js" lua implementation ?
manuletroll··on PHP 5.5
That's pretty much what I had in mind with this comment, I should have expanded it a bit. What grates on my nerves when writing PHP is indeed the awfully inconsistent standard library. Though some syntax choices (namespaces for instance) are also pretty weird.
manuletroll··on PHP 5.5
Well actually I don't use PHP that much anymore, but I do keep an eye on it; there's been a lot of improvements, mostly on the ecosystem side. It's definitely not my language of choice, but one still has to eat, and PHP jobs are unfortunately way more common than most other stacks around here, outside of the enterprise stuff which I'm currently doing.
manuletroll··on PHP 5.5
Am I the only one thinking PHP needs more stuff removed rather than added ?
manuletroll··on New Werkzeug and Flask Releases
Python 3 support! Now I can make the switch. Congratulations to Armin and all contributors, and a big thank you!
manuletroll··on Opera Mail – standalone mail client
I'm kind of disappointed by the first-launch experience: there's no configuration wizards for common email providers, not even for fastmail which is an Opera division AFAIK.

Edit : Actually there is, but it's not very discoverable.

manuletroll··on Ask HN: Where is the best place to register a .io domain?
I use gandi.net for most of my domain needs and I've always been quite happy with them. They sell .io domains for a lower price than other providers (~€30 excl. VAT). I'm not sure about domain transferability though.
manuletroll··on Google’s Go has some coders raving
That's very much my feeling too, it's the first time I feel like I'm really reusing a lot of my code.
manuletroll··on Show HN: FlatUIKit - Flat UI components for iOS
Yeah, he should definitely be burned at the stake for not following the mighty HIG. And releasing the code, what an outrage! Now other developers will fall victim to this ignominous tendency of innovation!
manuletroll··on Show HN: FlatUIKit - Flat UI components for iOS
Yeah he's the condescendant one, sure.
