mangoleaf··on Ask HN: What do you do on weekend?
1) Continue playing taxi by driving son to engagements. 2) Downtime from taxi work: movies, hang out at beach, etc. 3) Step back from implementation and think big picture. Meditate on what I have been working on. Veg-out. Let the mind wander. It has often wandered interestingly.
mangoleaf··on RateMySite: [coffee][talk] (San Francisco only right now)
I like it! As usual, the issue will be enough traffic to make it worthwhile to post. Otherwise, my interest in posting will trail off over time because of few successful link-ups. "Network effect" relevant here.
mangoleaf··on Ask HN: Review my web app, CraigUpdate.com
Cool.

Might get spammy.

I don't see a revenue model anywhere. Nor a marketing model. Pull out the checkbook for adsense?

mangoleaf··on Ask HN: Startup vs Girlfriend
I can tell by the negative points that my clear precise insight was not PC enough. Bottom line, make the money and it becomes extremely easy to get a girlfriend. We nerds become attractive when the accounts balloon. Fact of life. Evidence: Every fellow Stanford grad valley startup nerd. Success = hot devoted girlfriend. Probability of getting girlfriend is positively correlated to startup success.
mangoleaf··on Ask HN: Startup vs Girlfriend
You can always find another girlfriend. You have only one or two legitimate shots at a successful startup.
mangoleaf··on What I've Learned from Hacker News
HN has reached critical mass. No need to worry about a quick death anymore. Add friction to keep the randoms out and to help make those that stay feel like they are part of an exclusive club. Friction = cost. Some micro payment, say .99/yr, that adds enough friction to slow the adoption by non-core types. Those that value this exclusive "club," like myself, would gladly render unto Caesar.
mangoleaf··on Ask HN: Hackers And Founders In Boston
Why doesn't YC make a Hackerbook (HB) to facilitate nerd networking? I read HN cuz I can't stand digg et al. I might use HB cuz I can't stand FaceClutter...uh...Book.
