mambru··on EU Age Control: The trojan horse for digital IDs
That's not now it works.

At least in my country, the ID app lets you generate 3 levels of QR:

Level 1: Just age (also shows a photo on the screen). This is what you would typically use to go in a club or buy alcohol.

Level 2: Adds Full name, birth date, validity date.

Level 3: All the data you can see on the physical ID card.

Seems like George is inching towards learning about Triffin Dilemma[0].

To meet global demand, the issuer must supply enough currency, potentially weakening its own economy, but restricting supply would harm international trade and finance

https://x.com/ylecun/status/1845956992898150855 Before "OpenAI" was a thing, there was "Open AI" (with a space. In 2015, Guy Ravine circulated the idea of an open and collaborative non-profit AI research org. He registered the domain http://open.ai and filed a trademark. Then, OpenAI was created without him...

mambru··on My 24 year old HP Jornada can do things an iPhone still can't do
Sure, it's a desktop with a 35-50W TDP, M2 Pro is around 30W?

I agree M2 is better, but not at 4x the price for 1

My responsiveness is great, and Linux experience for my UC (dev) is much better.

Just got a mini pc with AMD, which can hold its ground against a mac mini, but costs ~4 times less (602€ vs 2259€). Comes with 32GB of RAM, 1 TB SSD, and Linux works great!

Funny, in Germany most "old" houses don't have shutters, from my small sample of living in 4 or 5 German houses. Many people from the south of Europe complain about that when traveling to Germany.

mambru··on ChatGPT Hardware: A look at 8x NVIDIA A100 powering the tool
You should probably compare the H100:

https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/h100-sxm5-96-gb.c3974

With the MI300, which has 128GB and more compute power (at least on paper):

A100 can be compared with MI250, perhaps. It also has 128GB.
