Still seems to be live ... 2 hours and counting.

>The point I'm trying to make is that if you want professionals (and thereby, businesses) to come and stay, you have to make your city a nice place to live. Tax breaks don't fix a lousy commute.

Moving is easier and cheaper than ever before (mostly also because of the cheap communication technologies that allow us to stay connected to whatever or whoever we might leave behind.)

Therefore the competition of cities for talent rises to a complete new level.

Sites like https://teleport.org make it super easy to compare cities worldwide for life-quality data, costs of living, salary levels whatnot... Algorithms could help you to optimise your life regarding on one of the most important life decisions: "Where should I live?"

What if, people vote with their feet? Would it be possible that sites like https://teleport.org or others, make moving as simple as booking a holiday trip? People will find their likeminded peers in the cloud and meet up physically at a place that fits best their needs? Not just to meet up for conferences but for longterm stays? Countries, cities, governments would have to compete for talent? Would this change the dynamic how governments act overall? Being in competition for people, for talent on a complete new level?

Also check http://teleport.org to compare locations. They have not launched global yet, but they probably will soon...

A startup pays a big established design firm for making their user interface. That's not a good sign. You could argue, that the work is at least just "average stuff", and not worth the money, but that's not the point:. Paying a lot of money for an established design firm feels like buying Armani suits for the whole team. What were they thinking? That someone who wants to start to code cares about the fact that Pentagram made the design? Let alone that Pentagram is maybe one of the greatest Identity and Graphic Design firms out there, but they did not one great work for screens. Codecademy stands for Learn Hacking. Do It Yourself. Pentagram stands for New York and Artsy Gallery People. I have respect for the work of Pentagram, and I really liked Codecademy, but this made me sad.
