majorbugger··on AI models ran real businesses: They sent $12,431 in fake invoices, lost $3,200
I think this proves we are absolutely ready to hand over our businesses and lives to our AI overlords!
majorbugger··on It's time for Mark Zuckerberg to resign from Meta
It's still used for stuff like events or groups
majorbugger··on It's time for Mark Zuckerberg to resign from Meta
Honestly, the world has grown past the need for Meta. I would not cry if it completely shut down, problem is, what will fill the void? It would be nice to have something not controlled by Big American Corporation (or Chinese, or any, for that matter), but somehow I don't see it happening.
majorbugger··on The shrinking landscape of linguistic diversity in the age of LLMs
While at that, let's also get rid of all the cultural differences (which can cause problems during such interactions) because it's gonna be more peaceful
majorbugger··on AI-Written Code Is Still *Your* Code. Are You OK with That?
Way to completely miss the point of the article.
majorbugger··on Less Coffee, Better Sleep
For many people this might make a massive difference. But people are not equally sensitive to caffeine.
majorbugger··on Measuring developer productivity with the DX Core 4
Could be worse like crossover
majorbugger··on Setting up your spare Mac for Claude Code to control, a step-by-step guide
I mean, what's the worst that can happen? A complete takeover of the box by a hacker via prompt injection or something similar?
majorbugger··on Agent-talk: Enabling coding agents to work together
My agent has full autonomy when it comes to spinning up new agents or talking to them so it's not an issue
majorbugger··on I tricked Claude into leaking your deepest, darkest secrets
Interesting approach to exfiltration but that can't be prevented really because of lethal trifecta.
majorbugger··on Why write code in 2026
I have also never used punch cards, what does it prove?
majorbugger··on Why write code in 2026
Why is this even a legit question? I need to keep writing code to stay relevant, not to forget my craft, be able to review code... So many reasons. AI doesn't change a thing.
majorbugger··on AI Built a Nuke and Still Lost
Nothing, because the question makes no sense.
majorbugger··on AI Built a Nuke and Still Lost
> Somewhere in the first game, between a bug fix and a strategy note, I asked the agent what this was actually like for it

Yeah because LLM "experiences" the game

majorbugger··on Amazon Says Its Data Centers Use 2.5B Gallons of Water
Let's see the recent Guardian article: The UK government vastly underestimated the climate impact of artificial intelligence, it has emerged, after officials raised their estimate of carbon emissions from AI by a factor of more than 100.

According to new data quietly published this week, energy use by AI datacentres in the UK could cause the emission of up to 123m tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO₂) – about as much as generated by 2.7 million people – over the next 10 years.

That latest figure replaces a previous estimate – since deleted – that claimed emissions would reach a maximum of 0.142m tonnes of CO₂ in a single year.

majorbugger··on Amazon Says Its Data Centers Use 2.5B Gallons of Water
What angers me on the other hand is calling something "performative" while completely ignoring the facts. Have you checked the projected impact of new data centers on CO2 emmissions?
majorbugger··on Anthropic, please ship an official Claude Desktop for Linux
Yeah nah it's yet another security risk. There was an article recently about Claude Code desktop installing some browser files, it wasn't a hole per-se but doesn't make the whole thing trustworthy.
majorbugger··on Meta workers can opt out of being tracked at work up to 30 min
The corporate overlords are becoming too benevolent these days! Why not monitor employees' thoughts in real time?
majorbugger··on Malicious npm packages detected across Red Hat Cloud Services
I would like to meet the person behind the "postinstall scripts" idea and try to understand how they thought it was a good idea.
majorbugger··on Using AI to write better code more slowly
You have very optimistic assumptions about AI. Of course AI will not "replace you" on its own, but some person in the company will decide it.
majorbugger··on Bytecode VMs in surprising places (2024)
Does it mean we can play Doom on WinRar?
majorbugger··on Kindle loyalists scramble as Amazon turns page on old e-readers
Two of my paperwhites died so i took the opportunity to switch to kobo and couldn't be happier.
majorbugger··on MacBook Neo Deep Dive: Benchmarks, Wafer Economics, and the 8GB Gamble
I don't understand this logic. You can live with 8 GB but there is nothing to "appreciate". It's enough for some stuff but totally short for other stuff.
majorbugger··on Programming Still Sucks
Yes it does. Typical example - layoffs to make to stock perform better.
majorbugger··on I'm scared about biological computing
It's not obvious at all
majorbugger··on Meetings are forcing functions
As a developer I have absolutely no qualms with the weekly meetings and since we're fully remote, it's actually nice to be in touch with my team mates, even if they talk about the part they're doing right now for a while.

What I had issues with in the past is forced daily meeting (on top of other meetings) that just created stress and fatigue for me. Starting my day with a standup was literally the worst way to start it ever.

majorbugger··on Code is run more than read (2023)
Which is great until you have to make changes to this kind of code, not to mention a massive refactoring.
majorbugger··on Axios compromised on NPM – Malicious versions drop remote access trojan
Yeah, it's annoying to have good support for dates in Java since 2014, instead of only getting it now like in JS.
majorbugger··on Axios compromised on NPM – Malicious versions drop remote access trojan
Good morning, or as they say in the NPM world, which package got compromised today?
majorbugger··on I want to wash my car. The car wash is 50 meters away. Should I walk or drive?
The question is not stupid, it might be banal, but so is "what is 2+2". It shows the limitations of LLMs, in this specific case how they lose track of which object is which.
