majestic5762··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (September 2026)
Location: Bucharest, Romania

Remote: Yes

Willing to relocate: Yes

Résumé/CV: https://bit.ly/4wZMrTy

Email: unpack@fastmail.com

Technologies: TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, Bun, React, Next.js, Vue.js, React Native, Expo, Fastify, NestJS, Hono, Swift, Kotlin, Go, Python, PostgreSQL, Prisma, Drizzle, Neon, Hasura, GraphQL, tRPC, WebSockets, RabbitMQ, Inngest, Mastra, LangChain.js, RAG, vector databases, embeddings, LLM agents, LLM evals, voice AI, LiveKit, ONNX, Transformers.js, speech-to-text, text-to-speech, on-device inference, CRDTs, distributed state, local-first architecture, offline-first applications, real-time synchronization, end-to-end encryption, SDK and CLI development, OAuth/OIDC, Better Auth, multi-tenant systems, Jest, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Docker, Kubernetes, Nomad, CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Vercel, Fly.io, Cloudflare, Azure, AWS, GCP, Solidity, Pact smart contracts, zero-knowledge proofs, Konva.js, frontend performance, application security, and infrastructure security.

I've built AI products, developer platforms, mobile applications, distributed systems, and production infrastructure from early architecture through operation. Recent work includes an institutional financial-intelligence platform, LLM-powered ETL and evaluation pipelines, real-time voice agents, a local-first TypeScript framework, and a privacy-first personal AI product with on-device inference.

I can take ownership of a product or platform, from uncertain requirements to a reliable production system. I'm particularly useful for AI-native products, founding/lead engineering, developer tools and SDKs, local-first or real-time applications, mobile/web platforms, security-sensitive systems, and infrastructure that needs to scale. I can define the architecture, ship across the stack, establish evaluation and observability, improve engineering execution, and work directly with founders, clients, and product teams.

majestic5762··on Abundant Intelligence, Scarce Autonomy
This is my vision of the future.

To be transparent, I began by writing down my own thoughts, then used Sol to help rewrite them into a more publishable form. I spent considerably more time editing and refining the resulting draft.

I feel obliged to mention this because I can smell AI-generated crap from a mile away - and so can you. I have no interest in wasting anyone’s time with it. In this case, however, Sol did an excellent job of understanding my ideas and presenting them in a clear and digestible format.

majestic5762··on Show HN: Open-Source Video Editor Web App
Thoughts:

1) add ffmpeg wasm

2) use ffmpeg to detect scene changes

3) you can generate nice & short social media videos based on scene changes

majestic5762··on Memory and new controls for ChatGPT
mykin.ai has the best memory feature i've tested so far. ChatGPT's memory feature feels like a joke compared to Kin's
majestic5762··on Nvidia's Chat with RTX is an AI chatbot that runs locally on your PC
rewind.ai
majestic5762··on Nvidia's Chat with RTX is an AI chatbot that runs locally on your PC
mykin.ai is building this with privacy in mind. Runs small models on-device, while large ones in confidential VMs in the cloud.
majestic5762··on LLM in a Flash: Efficient LLM Inference with Limited Memory
I was thinking a couple of days ago about this concept of windowing for LLMs, but I lack the technical skills to implement it. Now Apple just published a paper on it. This is what I call synchronicity
majestic5762··on Pipe Dreams: The life and times of Yahoo Pipes
Yahoo Pipes was full of XSS vulns. I used to play with cookie grabbers
majestic5762··on Show HN: Recompyle – A JavaScript developer-friendly console / debugger
You just pretty print console logs at breakpoint location. IDE extension + some web app. Why closed source lol. I won't pay for it, could build my own. Sorry but you first need open source traction and then try to sell to enterprises. Good luck

majestic5762··on Exclusive hardwood may be illegally harvested
IKEA's Assault on Romania's Ancient Forests:

* IKEA faces allegations of aggressively exploiting the last of Romania's ancient forests.

* Ivestigations in the U.S. document IKEA's rush against time to exploit these forests.

* The primary motivation for this deforestation is sheer profit.

* Documented evidence shows complete and illegal clear-cutting of forests under IKEA's direction.

Romania's Forests – Europe's Amazon:

* Romania is home to one of the world's last and largest ancient forests. The Carpathian Mountains in Romania house half of the remaining ancient forests, often termed as the "Amazon of Europe."

Economic Incentives and Unchecked Exploitation:

* Romania's entry into the European Union in 2007 opened markets for its abundant and cheap timber.

Political inefficiency and corruption have enabled unchecked deforestation and exploitation.

Reports suggest that more than half of Romania's timber is exploited illegally.

IKEA's Dubious Role:

* IKEA stands as the world's largest individual wood consumer, its demand growing by about 2 million trees annually.

* In 2015, IKEA began buying vast tracts of forests in Romania, quickly becoming the largest private forest owner there.

* IKEA has been linked to suppliers involved in illegal wood acquisitions, including notable names like Kronospan, Egger, and Schweighofer.

* The company has a pattern of aggressive forest acquisitions and connections with both legal and illegal suppliers, not only in Romania but also in countries like Ukraine and Russia.

LGBTQ+ Campaign as a Distraction:

* IKEA's promotion of LGBTQ+ rights is portrayed as a smokescreen to divert attention from its environmental and corporate malpractices.

* The promotion of LGBTQ+ ideologies, while noble in other contexts, is seen here as a corporate strategy to overshadow their illicit activities.

IKEA's Ideological Dominance:

* IKEA is not just a neutral space; it's portrayed as an ideological stronghold.

* There have been instances where employees were allegedly fired for not conforming to IKEA's political stance. * A Polish court had to intervene to reinstate an employee terminated on such grounds.

A Moral and Environmental Dilemma:

* Romania faces a choice: to focus on rampant deforestation and exploitation by giants like IKEA or to be sidetracked by ideological debates while being economically and morally overshadowed by such corporations.

majestic5762··on MemGPT – LLMs with self-editing memory for unbounded context
We took a similar approach like MemGPT (working memory: summarized conversation with eviction), but our long memory is a graph we can operate on (add/remove/edit nodes & edges). We bring the top_k nodes and their neighbors in the working memory.
majestic5762··on Metric Time
I'm angry how useless this is
majestic5762··on Asking 60 LLMs a set of 20 questions
I've been laughing my ass out all my life thinking about non-sensical crap like this in my head and apparently now we have the tech for it!
majestic5762··on Asking 60 LLMs a set of 20 questions
Yes, GPT-4 is still the daddy. How much I appreciate the commercially-free and open models out there, nobody beats GPT-4. Hope OpenAI takes care of their business and future, because I invested all my money to use their API.
majestic5762··on Bun v1.0.0

majestic5762··on Source code for Quake 2 rerelease
Whoa, I still remember watching a show about VR on the Discovery Channel around 1999 when I was a kid. They used Quake 2 as a demo, and it blew my mind. I was playing Quake 2 on my PC also, but the concept of VR was revolutionary to me at the time. It's stuck in my head to this day. To now learn that using Quake 2 was a common practice for teaching VR. Maybe it was you in that documentary!
majestic5762··on Supabase Local Dev: migrations, branching, and observability
Are you considering releasing an ORM or providing better support for Prisma?
majestic5762··on Launch HN: Refine (YC S23) – Open-source platform for enterprise web apps
Why do people keep comparing refine with nocode tools like windmill or tooljet? Refine just scaffolds your codebase, gives you a good start and has some really cool hooks for common operations like auth / data management / tables etc. I use it for my SaaS and it's great (though they never replied to any of the enquires i made for enterprise). Once you scaffold the project, then you're on your own.
majestic5762··on A world where people pay for software
Actually I'm seeing a big new wave of open source projects that you can host yourself, but can be used as SaaS if you are willing to pay. I'm always paying because I don't want to bother and because the devs have my /respect
majestic5762··on X, the moonshot factory
You haven't understood my message because you are superficial. I don't have opponents, i'm not trying to convince anyone of anything, those are my sincere opinions, it was just an observation and i'm not trying to grow a cult. Don't be so reactive on the internet, it's like winning the special olympics (can we still make these kind of jokes today? .... people either forgot the Internet, either they're born in 2000 lol)
majestic5762··on X, the moonshot factory
Even @sama, as much as I respect him and look up to him (for both ycombinator and openai), disappointed me with his attempt at monopolizing AI. At the end of the day, he's looking for his best interest, who am I to comment? :)
majestic5762··on X, the moonshot factory
Actually someone described this phenomena really well: we are all tied up (psychologically, socially, economically) by these billionaires and the visions they bring up to us, that we let ourselves seduced by the spectacle, while surrendering our common sense and critical thinking, void of power, action, consciousness. The reality is that, even you fuel a revolution somewhere, there are massive opposing idiots out there willing to kill themselves for being quoted by musk etc. So just enjoy the ride and try to navigate this world as billionaires do: profiting from the stupid - but be cool & polite ;) not saying they're not driving innovation, but they're machiavellic the rest of the time (we are all the same, but for others it takes longer to realize). sure, downvote me, at least you have this power :)
