Similarly, I spent 6 weeks on a kernel token-ring driver intermittent initialization issue. This required kernel restarts over and over to observe the issue. Breakpoints were useless as they hid the issue. Turns out initialization in a specific step was not synchronous and reading the status was a race condition. It tooks weeks of staring, joking around, thinking, bs'ing, then suddenly, voila. Changed the order of the code, worked.
I have Power Toys installed and start everything via PT. <cmd>spacebar "application name", just like the old quicksilver which was amazing (for mac). PT is great...but crashes an FT.
Shared bikes should be at the top because they will actually be ridden for that 15K or 50K miles, whereas a personal bike gets no where near that mileage.
Ultimately spam takes over. There was a model for email whereby senders have to pay to send, I think MS had some papers on this. They never implemented it. I do wonder if a pay to post model could tame the spam and all the BS. That money could be used to fund the network, because nothing is free and it's time we all embrace that reality.
There are a ton of beta tests ahead of release, I think it's always prudent to keep up to date very quickly. This seems to be the top security expert recommendation.
We get really upset about drunk driving. Smoking indoors and in particular around kids. We're going to get similarly mad unvaccinated people taking others down with their Darwin Awards.
Home ownership is now very liquid. People buy/sell/move very easily. Foreign ownership is huge and as mentioned, money laundering is now rife in realestate. Prices in London are estimated to be 10% higher due to laundering. I'm sure that it's much higher in higher priced homes...for a while.
Bill Gates was a destructive businessman. His philanthropy is tied up in his "power" world view. The way the press fawns over his every word is nauseating and a part of this power dynamic. We worship the rich.
The computer has become a commercial ad delivery device. No doubt. These days work on my computers makes me feel like I'm in AdOps optimizing their ad delivery to me.
It is a misstatement to say that developers develop on Macs. They don't, they use Mac as a convenient environment from which to do Linux/cloud development. If it's MS/cloud development, they're running MS. The 3rd party app world on Mac is dying. Apple will be happy with their end to end commercially controlled device. That they put up with 3rd party apps at all was just a convenient anomaly.
Name, picture, background enforces instant bias in recruiting. This is a known fact. LinkedIn enables our perceptive biases. The feed that is full of thought leaders shouting how to be successful is just pablum for the drones.
