1) This guy is a real entrepreneur. He made a deal. I am thrilled! Congratulations! :) Reminds me of the book from Donald Trump about the deals.
2) Y Combinator partners are undoubtly clever people and they can't afford themselves to apply each pitch or idea and you should look for a hack to stay out of the overall group to be noticed and given a chance to win or fail.
I found the same situation with PhD status as this article highlights. Degree means nothing here. Really nothing. The only thing which matters are results of your work. PhD should be better in analysis, problem solving etc.
- programmers create new open source libraries for Go; - language got 1.0 version so it can be considered by enterprises for production; - programmers write articles about it so we have some buzz around it; - community grows with a set of books about Go.
So I think the overall popularity will grow.
It would be nice for Golang site to have some section about "companies using Go...".
I'll definitely enter YC with some of my ideas at least ready as initial prototype (writing this using the moment). I hope I will like it so to make something similar in future to save this state of startup-spirit.

People can change and show those points of their character which are useful for current situation.
The other side is making great team where people share common interest to make great/best product or service.
I read it and remembered the situation when I got division and delegated work to other people. It was a great experience and lesson.
P.S. Good lecture pointing about similar problem can be found here named "Managing people, managing teams": http://itunes.apple.com/us/itunes-u/building-a-business/id38...
While I was working at one firm I got own department. I wrote LaTeX class for them to support corporate style. After 1-2 weeks they noticed it was the same if not better than MS Word for documentation.
I had to figure it out on IRC chat as "go get" to install gotour and other packages is only available in Go weekly builds.
Login via Facebook uses OAuth 2.0 which can be easily implemented with 20-30 lines of code.
