Meh

It's called Bloom. A really pretty way to shape a visual aesthetic with a client. Our users (& founders) are in things like fashion photography and video production.

Got laid off 2 weeks ago (8YOE). How are there so many engineers out of work for >2 years? Should I conclude that my time is better spent searching for a non-eng job?

There are rural land loan companies. Or buy with friends or family. I know people who've done the above and don't tell anybody but it's working out fine.

Good for you but how sad that being treated like a human is remarkable.

> who doesn’t really need the money

Finally someone says it

Feeding your family is the more "ethical" thing here

Yeah sounds like bartering exists only in the world of thought experiments. Gift economies were the norm

I'm interested to hear more on why domestic air travel is insanity.

What I've learned is that, for employees, job security is never real. There is only silent risk. You might get lucky and go through an entire career never losing Russian roulette...but you're just lucky.

But I've also learned that there is no security of any kind in life. People who've lived nothing but peaceful lives will never understand, and they'll even lecture you about "making your own luck," when they should be thanking God for their good fortune.

I'm so grateful I was laid off just 2 years into my first software gig out of school. I graduated, worked my ass off at a startup, and theeeen covid! It hurt but that was a permanent wisdom upgrade.
