madduci··on MacBook Neo
If anyone makes Linux running on this thing, it's a major gaming changer!
madduci··on Intel's make-or-break 18A process node debuts for data center with 288-core Xeon
Is your calculation also taking cost of energy and personnel that keeps your own infra running?
madduci··on Motorola announces a partnership with GrapheneOS
Perhaps €200 is too low as price, but I don't get why generally only flagships (900+) are considered the only citizens to get that support. I remember the time only OnePlus flagship phones got the best LineageOS support back then, while older, cheaper ones hadn't
madduci··on Motorola announces a partnership with GrapheneOS
Why? Some cheap smartphones are really powerful enough, the Software is bloated enough to feel sluggish
madduci··on Motorola announces a partnership with GrapheneOS
I really hope that the partnership involves support for low-end devices and not only high-end ones. Would be great to have a €200 Phone running GrapheneOS (e.g. G56)
madduci··on OsmAnd’s Faster Offline Navigation (2025)
The big issue for me is that Android Auto does not work without Maps for positioning and navigation. Tried to completely remove Maps and use other applications for Navigation, they do not even start, since the core positioning components is integrated with Maps.
madduci··on Microsoft announces new "mini PCs" for Windows 365
You don't account the "reliability" of cloud. What if Azure goes dark?
madduci··on Don't use passkeys for encrypting user data
TIL, thanks
madduci··on Don't use passkeys for encrypting user data
Don't they get associated to a particular device?
madduci··on Don't use passkeys for encrypting user data
For this reason I am avoiding it like a plague. It is an additional way to fingerprint your activity and the scenarios where you migrate your passkeys from a device to another seems not really well "oiled"
madduci··on The Hunt for Dark Breakfast
It misses a lot of other breakfast options:

- croissants - muesli/porridge/oatmeal - cookies - toasts - bread & butter (nutella too)

madduci··on RK3588 and RK3576 video decoders support merged in the upstream Linux Kernel
Need to add a charger (5V), a box and cooling. More like $160/170. An Intel N100 box or a used miniPC has more mileage. I own myself one of this and the support is pretty bad for anything related to graphics, while headless armbian works fine
madduci··on RK3588 and RK3576 video decoders support merged in the upstream Linux Kernel
An Orange Pi 5 is already $130-140
madduci··on RK3588 and RK3576 video decoders support merged in the upstream Linux Kernel
3588 is not cheap at all
madduci··on zclaw: personal AI assistant in under 888 KB, running on an ESP32
The whole ESP32 Libraries are kind of bloated. To enable Bluetooth, WiFi or HTTP handling, you need to embed some large libraries
madduci··on An ARM Homelab Server, or a Minisforum MS-R1 Review
Mac M4 have also the problem that you can't install whatever distro you want too, even if it is cheap. When they'll get out of support, there's no upgrade available anymore
madduci··on Show HN: CEL by Example
Mostly for validating the FHIR Resources themselves
madduci··on Show HN: CEL by Example
CEL is used a lot in FHIR as Path Expressions
madduci··on Asahi Linux Progress Report: Linux 6.19
Not really true. There are platforms and systems that are stable and open.
madduci··on Asahi Linux Progress Report: Linux 6.19
But we have still the power of choice: moving consumers away from such closed platforms would affect their business.
madduci··on YouTube as Storage
Love this project, although I would never personally trust YT as Storage, since they can delete your channel/files whenever they want
madduci··on My Grandma Was a Fed – Lessons from Digitizing Hours of Childhood
What is alpha school?
madduci··on Using an engineering notebook
Never used one in over 15 years. I write a short post it only if I don't finish a certain task between days and it is really complex or maybe as a to-do list before leaving for holidays.

But I never felt the urgency to start a proper notebook. All the important decisions are documented in form of git commits for code or decision records for systems

madduci··on End of an era for me: no more self-hosted git
I've put everything behind a Wireguard Server, so if I need something, I can access to it through VPN and AI can't do anything
madduci··on UEFI Bindings for JavaScript
Because this can end very badly. It is a new surface to attack
madduci··on UEFI Bindings for JavaScript
But why?
madduci··on Microsoft account bugs locked me out of Notepad – Are thin clients ruining PCs?
Coincidentally, if you switch to use Windows Server 2025 (which is W11), you end up with a much better experience. No forced updates, no ads or messed up things with account
madduci··on British drivers over 70 to face eye tests every three years
In Italy (and EU perhaps?) is every year from 70 onwards
madduci··on Floppinux – An Embedded Linux on a Single Floppy, 2025 Edition
No but I find this line interesting:

The Linux kernel drops i486 support in 6.15 (released May 2025), so 6.14 (released March 2025) is the latest version with full compatibility.

madduci··on FOSDEM 2026 – Open-Source Conference in Brussels – Day#1 Recap
This was a really long one. Sometimes there is a race to be the first posting recaps
