m4xp··on I switched to Brave
Is it just me that think injecting affiliate is fair game? I hate with a passion all the sponsor segments everyone has now, grifting for something they pretend to use. I find it better if that affiliate money goes to a product i actually use and makes my life better. Brave origin is that, it solved my issue i had with regular brave. And i tried firefoz based browser but they are not up to par, they work for basic browsing, but struggle with video playback of jellyfin, some dont even have option to use mt own serxng service as search engine
m4xp··on OpenAI halts training of latest models as reports mount of AI agents going rogue
I have local model without safeguards and they are not going to hack shit unless you tell them to. As per usual its the same grift all over. If the llm is instruction is to do whatever it needs including hacking to achieve its goal it will do so. Ofc they will never disclose that.
m4xp··on OpenAI halts training of latest models as reports mount of AI agents going rogue
New model are marginally better and cost billions to train. Ai companies: OMG we need to HALT the ai model production or we are all dead
m4xp··on Zelensky says Russia has widened attacks to hit Ukraine's data centres
I refuse to believe russia cannot get infinite drone supply from china
m4xp··on Far-left party wins Berlin election, pledging to nationalise housing
There should be huge taxes on empty houses. This breaks the supply demand price negotiation, if they can gauge price by 2x they dont care if they rent half the houses.
m4xp··on The Malicious Use of Artificial Intelligence
Ai will 100% be use maliciously, people will already think It's all knowing, meanwhile any expert in any field cringes at this notion. Ai will be used as justification for something, oh ai said this? It must be true, lets ignore how tge model was trained for this outcome and the secret promp that is not disclosed.
m4xp··on StarCraft returns in 2030 as an open-world shooter
Making an rts in 2026. They are not a charity my guy. If you must capitalize on nostalgia you are better off making an mmo.

That said i do not trust blizzard to make anything that isnt lame and slop.

m4xp··on Show HN: Linux server management over SSH – written in Rust and Tauri
Man as someone thar was on the verge of going all in on programming is so demoralizing to see how easy it is to release pure SLOP nowdays
m4xp··on Devices with GrapheneOS support should be available in 2027
Not true, if you install play services you can run 99.9% of apps, i can even run all the italian apps from yhe goverment. You are still using google but its running as user service and you can even revoke most of the permissions including location.
m4xp··on Fairphone is now officially available in the United States
As someone that swapped from fairphone 5 to a pixel9a with graphene.

I have to side with graphene. Fairphone is a cool concept, but its a expensive phone, early on i had problem with the speakers and mic. Security updates are extremely slow, support is extremely slow.

Their missions is to make a fair phone, but is it fair if you are then forced to buy more ewaste because your phone breaks? Look at pixel software support, its really good, and eu made batteries replacement mandatory.

m4xp··on Rust-lang/rust is adopting an LLM policy
Disclosure can't go away, i dont care if you say which model you used. But i think it's within any project rights to not accept any llm assisted contributions.
m4xp··on EU rules on AI models become enforceable. What's going to change?
It does, it hinders competition, its really good if you are already enstablished.
m4xp··on Californians' data deletion requests, DROP, become enforceable Aug. 1
Let me guess, to delete your data you need to give them your data so that they can keep track that you want your data to be deleted.
m4xp··on Prevent cognitive debt by manually retyping LLM-generated code
Hard disagree, it's proven that its the actual discovery process that's makes us improve at tasks. Blindly typing will make you just good at typing.

I do think there is absolutely no way a learner should be using ai for code generation. I think code analysis is the only acceptable usecase.

m4xp··on Police removed prominent scientists from American Diabetes Association meeting
It would be one more layer of bureaucracy, I can tell this as an Italian, if you have a serious emergency you are better off paying out of pocket for a private clinic.

And this is for every aspect of society, I feel like all this burocracy is just made for people that liv e off the state, I get home at 6pm, offices are not even open, I have to take half a day off work to stand in a line every time...

m4xp··on Worse on Purpose – How Corporate Greed Killed Product Quality – Worse on Purpose
I think it's just human nature, people that are ruthless with buisness are more likely to stay afloat compared to the moral alternative that always on the edge of collapsing
m4xp··on Codeberg bans vibe coded projects
Mmm, actually the composer is the one that creates music. A director simply translates music to something human can experience and enjoy, similar to a compiler.

Get your slop machine to write you better analogies.

m4xp··on How an AI Anime Is Created
The problem with ai is that it's extremely good at front loading everything. Sure it can make a scene, but can it make 20 scenes that are coherent? Can it follow human prompt for story? Or do you prompt and hope the result is like you wanted? Which leads to inevitably settling for something you did not.
m4xp··on Donation Controversy
In fact I would argue that if he was cancelled like the mob wanted it would reflect badly on mullvad, If you cave to a bunch of Twitter warriors am I supposed to trust you from keeping my privacy when the government comes knocking?
m4xp··on Do we just want slaves?
It's really hard not to hate ai, You have so many reason - destruction of hardware market - democratization of skill (to the lower common denominator) - tech bros literally stealing and scamming with no repercussion

And so much more...

m4xp··on Jellyfin founder Andrew leaves team
How is that even a viable business model? I don't know a single self host person that would pay a subscription for something they are hosting
m4xp··on Hyprland 0.55 announced the switch to Lua for its config files
I think the problem is with people downloading perfect configs from other people, I put the time to make my own, not overly complicated, basic window rules, nothing fancy. And it just werks, haven't changed it for 4 months (outside of rewriting it in lua, which took 30min and was quite fun).

My first hyprland experience was with ML4W (nothing against the guy) but as soon as you download it you get 10 config errors and you don't know where to begin. I took the same philosophy as arch, I install only what I understand, and this way my config grew over time, my games where spawning in 2nd monitor? I look up manual and fix it, etc..

m4xp··on Steam Machine: Between 12k and 15k Units Sold per week
The only reason why Linux hasn't gone mainstream (talking about desktop pcs) is because of schools and prebuilt-pcs. Majority of pc users don't even know what OS they are running.
m4xp··on LinkedIn is a cesspool of scammers and identity theft
Users reflect the platform. You make reddit, you get echo chambers. You make 4chan, you get edgy contrarians.

Users that thrive in those enviroment stay, others leave. LinkedIn is a scourge to the job market, being force to publish your entire life for everyone to see to find a job is completely dystopic.

m4xp··on Zig Creator Calls Spade a Spade, Anthropic Blows Smoke
Keep in mind logic bug that ai makes are extremely hard and expensive to fix as the clanker needs to parse thousand and thousands of lines of text every prompt while a human tries to explain what it's obviously doing wrong.

I hate ai so much because its so easy to generate quick slop that "appears" functional.

m4xp··on AI boosts research careers but narrow the span of ideas explored: study
I've always thought the bigger dangerous of ai is drowning the actual talented people in a sea of slop.
m4xp··on Show HN: We beat Cloudflare's bot detection (open-source stealth browser)
That future is coming no matter what.
m4xp··on EU Parliament greenlights Chat Control 1.0
Blud thinks musk has any principles, he is literally grifting for maga to stop immigration and then goes and facilitates h1b when there are plenty of talented workers that could be hired.
m4xp··on EU Parliament greenlights Chat Control 1.0
Democracy has failed. Let's be honest here.
m4xp··on Bring back crappy forums
I do think people are gradually starting to see why reddit comment tree is bad.
