lurn_mor··on SNL "Old Glory Robot Insurance" (1995) [video]

lurn_mor··on [dead]
Trump and Netanyahu are in a battle to see who lies more.
lurn_mor··on NASA: Fill in a name, and you can have an exclusive coordinate in the universe
I love the official certificate! Well worth my email address!
lurn_mor··on Building a backyard office, the build and cost breakdown
I keep an umbrella by my back door. Problem solved.

On that note, how many acres is your property and how many miles away were you planning to build? Even my 40 ft. walk doesn't soak me in the heaviest of storms.

lurn_mor··on They Killed Old Reddit
The first of thousands of paywalls and gatekeeping of the old, free internet into the new subscription economy. All the old wisdom locked behind a login screen.
lurn_mor··on Ask HN: Anyone else tired of brands discontinuing your favorite everyday items?
This assumes there's no advancement in clothing manufacturing and design. Could you buy a 20 year old computer today and use it with a modern OS?

I believe the engineers and artisians who make the clothes you wear are also pushing the boundaries of fabric, patterns and cuts to feed an ever-famished audience looking for the 'next thing'.

Besides, they read the room - you no longer fit in those same sizes anymore!

lurn_mor··on Boy George Releases Pro-Israel Song, We Will Dance Again
Tone deaf, as usual.
lurn_mor··on Hiding Data in Empty Space Characters
I spent a day writing the Captain Crunch Decoder Ring for Unicode Spaces to hide text content from both A.I. and the casual reader by turning it into 'blank' space. I'm still unsure why.

Comment if you can think of a good use! Comment in blank spaces to require everyone decode it to discover your wit! (Whoops - can't do that, HN strips them!)

lurn_mor··on I stopped tracking my time. Now I can't focus
Indeed. I use mine to help me revisit languishing projects on a regular basis, and 'finish' them eventually! I can ignore anything on my calendar and work on whimsical things, but guilt eventually catches up and I acquiesce to the calendar's demands!
lurn_mor··on AI Didn't Break College. It Exposed What College Was
Hilariously, the AI detecting plug-in named 'D-Slop' ranks a few of his paragraphs as probably written by AI. Self loathing has reach artificial intelligence! Obviously, add more emdashes...
lurn_mor··on Googlebook
You can install ChromeOS on a Mac: https://chromeos.google/products/chromeos-flex/

It's a great stopgap OS for older hardware.

lurn_mor··on I replaced my freelance SaaS stack with 5 single-file HTML tools
I blogged about the shift to 'local only' web apps that seem to be proliferating: http://www.undr.com/understatement/2026/feb13_web_apps_work_...

With a future of ChromeOS Flex running on millions of older hardware, the browser is the new 'App Store'.

...and congrats on reducing your dependency on third party tools!

lurn_mor··on Stripe closed my account – no notice – my LLC was registered using Stripe Atlas
Bad actors are relentless and never ending.
lurn_mor··on Show HN: Single HTML opinionated Kanban board
No need to appease me. I am on the lookout for a Trello replacement, but may end up self-hosting or vibe coding my own. I have a dream of marrying plain HTML _details elements with _textareas where the _summary is an editable _input.
lurn_mor··on Show HN: Single HTML opinionated Kanban board
Cute! I like it. Snazzy design and looks good. I appreciate the design choices you made.

My only disappointment is the dreaded LocalStorage, and now your Kanban is limited to one machine/browser. Yes, backup often; Won't, human forgetful.

lurn_mor··on Show HN: ToolKuai – Privacy-first, 100% client-side media tools
Bookmarked and added to my arsenal of browser-based tools: http://www.undr.com/understatement/2026/feb13_web_apps_work_...
lurn_mor··on How to make a living as an artist
Worked for Bansky, to great success, I might add.
lurn_mor··on How to make a living as an artist
Everyone's a critic.
lurn_mor··on Ask HN: ADHD – How do you manage the constant stream of thoughts and ideas?
What AI did you use to write that?
lurn_mor··on Perfectly Replicating Coca Cola [video]
Quite informative, and a laundry list of flavor names/chemicals that sound far more dangerous than they taste. Interesting find is vinegar, which might have offered a small germ-fighting benefit and given Coca Cola the 'medical' qualities it initially sold for...
lurn_mor··on I downloaded the german 8 pm news every day since 2014: Ask me anything
Forgive my ignorance, but how many times a day does the news come on in Germany? In the US it's nearly constant...
lurn_mor··on Show HN: Prime Number Grid Visualizer
Very! I saw the distant galaxies spin.
lurn_mor··on I launched 17 side projects. Result? I'm rich in expired domains
www.awebsiteyouwillnevergoto.org
lurn_mor··on Taylor Swift buys back the rights to her master recordings
No doubt that's her motive, and it'll probably happen sooner than you imagine. I do not think her music will stand the test of time like the Beatles, however.
lurn_mor··on Tell HN: Namecheap pre-purchasing searched domain names?
Upvote for Porkbun, who clearly doesn't do this type of 'selling searches', as I have 2 or 3 domains in my 'register someday' list at PorkBun, and they remain unregistered years later...
lurn_mor··on George Foreman has died
I think most folk would gladly shorten their lifespan by decades for a million dollars today - the ultimate sacrifice for future generational wealth? Not that a million gets you anything substantial anymore...
lurn_mor··on Ask HN: What's your blog / portfolio stack?
Ding! This exactly. Not every web page is best expressed in Markdown (or text for that matter). I post galleries of photos, weird web experiments, tutorials with inline photos, and other odd stuff that never fits in this 'automate my .md files to www' workflows everyone seems to love.

Write the html once, and it's good forever, really. Everything can be permalinked with authority. No reason to 're-render' your site again and again because you want to change the user interface - both of those are handled by CSS and JS.

You need to edit? Load up your FTP editor and work on the html file live, like a leet hacker! ...but I do succumb to using S3 due to its low monthly cost for hosting my 13gb 'personal' website. Too many hosted audio files...

lurn_mor··on Ask HN: How to turn off Gemini crap in Gmail?
They're making it a forced upgrade so they can charge more for email accounts. +$2/user/month is what they want for Gemini.
lurn_mor··on Ask HN: What do you look for in a work monitor?
I had this very issue. My old computers don't support the 4K monitor I bought (or at least, at a respectable resolution, and not stretched 1080p)
lurn_mor··on I keep turning my Google Sheets into phone-friendly webapps
Easier, but more expensive in the long run.
