lucianmarin··on Pop!_OS bans AI-generated code from much of its codebase
Yes. I started two projects with AI from scratch. Both abandoned, complete mess. Projects without AI are so easy to manage, maintain, add/remove features, etc. I use AI as a search engine on my projects instead of Google. I ask what's wrong with my code and change or improve it myself based on my experience.
lucianmarin··on Google Text: a clean, lightweight editor for Android Desktop (GoogleBook)
I wish I could run GooglebookOS on a VM on macOS.
lucianmarin··on Everybody's Lost Their Minds
Printing press was bad. Usenet was bad. Google was bad. AI is bad too. Robots? They will kill us.
lucianmarin··on Romania soccer introduces black card to 'combat abusive behaviour' from parents
Basically a red card for spectators. Not sure why it is black.
lucianmarin··on LLMs as a Cognitive Virus
AI can rewrite history books and medicine books. We should stop developing it.

lucianmarin··on DeepSeek-V4-Flash Update
OpenCode harness gets the most out of DS V4 Flash model. You can implement any coding task, fast and cheap.
lucianmarin··on Agent-Manager: A Tmux TUI for Running Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode
Isn't this what https://www.superlogical.com/ supposed to accomplish?
lucianmarin··on Design is compromise
Defaults are compromise, but design isn't.
lucianmarin··on Kimi K3: Open Frontier Intelligence
Shouldn't a LLM know how a pelican looks like from biology without being trained on very specific artistic data?
lucianmarin··on Lisette a little language inspired by Rust that compiles to Go
A programming language similar to Python that compiles to Rust or Go will be amazing.
lucianmarin··on Digg is gone again
Subreply.com is working just fine, no AI agents. Spam accounts get deleted.
lucianmarin··on Software engineers could go extinct this year, says Claude Code creator
AI companies are like Moon landing today. Nobody went near the Moon for 60 years. AI will have the same fate. Humans consume what other humans create.
lucianmarin··on IronClaw: a Rust-based clawd that runs tools in isolated WASM sandboxes
We should be able to revert any action done by agents. Or present user a queue will all actions for approval.
lucianmarin··on Android beats iOS in smartphone loyalty, study finds
$350 gets you a 6 years old phone design, an iPhone 5 with better internals. $700 gets you a 4 years old phone design, an iPhone 6 with better internals. $1000 gets you a brand new iPhone.

I got a Sony XZ1 Compact for €500 and it works the same or better than an iPhone.

lucianmarin··on See Python, See Python Go, Go Python Go
Can Django run on top of this? How?
lucianmarin··on Pills: A simple responsive CSS grid for humans
Why not go gridless? https://github.com/lucianmarin/gridless
lucianmarin··on Twitter Expected to Begin Layoffs and Stop Headquarters Expansion
This is just rubbish from developers that don't know what they are doing. I run Sublevel on a $5 VPS from DigitalOcean. Guess what, I optimized it to run smoothly in any situation.

lucianmarin··on Test versions of IE from 6 through 11 and Microsoft Edge using virtual machines
That's not a problem. You can find WebKit powered browsers on any platform. It's the same WebKit used in Safari on OS X and iOS.
lucianmarin··on How to destroy special collections with social media
There’s no display with infinite contrast. #000 and #FFF are some sort of gray on any display. If you lower the display brightness to save battery life, high contrast is the only thing that works OK.
lucianmarin··on What Twitter Can Be
Did you try https://sublevel.net? It’s very close to perfect.

lucianmarin··on The Solar System and Beyond Is Awash in Water
It’s called Abiogenesis, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenesis

I think life is created right now on Earth from scratch (chemical elements), but we need to find proof.

lucianmarin··on Django 1.8 released
Can’t wait to update https://sublevel.net to this version!
lucianmarin··on Inventing Favicon.ico
It’s easier on the eyes. You don’t to squint at a 16x16 images to get to the right tab. Once you get used to it, you won’t want to go back to Firefox or Chrome. I use Safari 8 daily and it’s simply amazing, fast and reliable.
lucianmarin··on Brands pay Twitter to falsely appear in your following list
Use an alternative service. Problem solved.
lucianmarin··on Firefox.html: Rebuilding Firefox UI in HTML
Why don’t you use SVG instead of PNG for icons? Then you can use CSS to customize them for different themes.
lucianmarin··on Postgres full-text search is good enough
I’m using it on http://sublevel.net/ — there’s no problem whatsoever. It does the job so well, especially if you have consistent fields on tables. I like the fact that it can search multiple fields at once without degrading the performance. You can try it on Sublevel without creating an account.
