lscott3··on Hide this in your coworkers' JavaScript code tomorrow
Ha, this is pretty cool.
lscott3··on DigitalOcean not destroying droplets securely, data is completely recoverable
I agree. I also think that the poster could have talked with a DO rep. before making this public. It seems like the intention was to "expose" DO. I could be wrong though.
lscott3··on Request for Feedback on Business Idea (frostedblooms.com)
I agree collecting those precious emails will go a long way.
lscott3··on Stack Overflow was down
good one!
lscott3··on Ask HN: How to get free adwords coupon?
Yes! forgot about that one. Hosting services practically hand them out.
lscott3··on Becoming My Own Boss
This is a great post. I've been down a similar path. Exhausting myself financially via my first attempt at business . Learned a ton, and realized that I needed time to get somethings in order and returned to working a 9-5 only to return to solo (for the most part) consulting and working on my product.

Good luck and keep us posted!

lscott3··on Ask HN: How to get free adwords coupon?
There was a time where Google was sending them out by mail (they may still be doing this). I've also heard of people signing up and when Google gives them a call (Google usually gives you a phone call to see how everything is going with your new account) they strike a deal with the agent over the phone.

Man that link looks so suspicious! lol. At 13 though?! wow! thats pretty impressive.
lscott3··on Show HN: I wrote a utility for reading Xbox 360 HDDs
+1 looks legit.
lscott3··on Ink CSS Framework
I thought that too. I like some of the JS stuff they have though. Like the pagination and date picker.
lscott3··on Ask HN: Solo startups? What have you built all on your own?
Nice! I am gonna check out the post now. It excites me to hear stories like yours - it installs a little hope in all of us :p.
lscott3··on Ask HN: Solo startups? What have you built all on your own?
What catapulted (if anything) you to achieving so much success with tiny piano? Especially with getting to 6 million free downloads?

- Was it something that people naturally search for?

- What types of marketing/advertising did you do?

- Do any of the other apps help supplement income?

lscott3··on Ask HN: Solo startups? What have you built all on your own?
haha that does sound a lil creepy!
lscott3··on Ask HN: Would you hire a dropout?
I've yet to be asked for any type of degree (I don't have one) for places I've been hired for, consulted at and/or interviewed for. I've also seen people highly decorated with degrees and certificates that can barely get an interview. I think it all depends on the person, their attitude, their ability to connect with people and willingness to learn from others.
lscott3··on Show HN: A faster, cleaner YouTube built on Angular.js and Foundation
I'm impressed! It loads super fast. Good work.

Not sure if you've seen any of the stuff by patio11 but he's pretty much bootstrapping his companies (Bingo Card Creator & Appointment Reminder), consulting and info products and he seems to be doing pretty well for himself. He's pretty transparent about his numbers on BCC and has plenty tips for microISV's.

He blogs here: http://www.kalzumeus.com/

I've just started to ramp up on doing a SaaS/blogging about the process. It can be pretty overwhelming if its your first go 'round.

I have to say that site looks pretty good! I didn't really read it or get into it (other than what you've stated here) but at first glance it looks really well designed.
lscott3··on Hacker news in your terminal
Pretty sweet!
lscott3··on Why I Gave Up A Million Dollar Consultancy
True. Good point.
lscott3··on Why I Gave Up A Million Dollar Consultancy
Those are some good numbers! It's key to have an open mind about learning new things to help improve your business or anything else for that matter.

I think what happens to most people following advice from others is that they are not "dumb enough" to go with it. They just look for reasons on why tactics can't work instead of really giving them a shot.

lscott3··on Expanding the Passive Income Experiment
Great honest feedback! You were not rude or on a high horse like some commenters can be.

I believe with comments like these people like Patrick can continue torwards their goals.

lscott3··on Tutorial: Create a data driven Twitter avatar
That's a pretty sweet idea! Good job.
lscott3··on Fairfax Pizza Delivery
lol! I was wondering the same thing! I was searching around the site for "something", but it was just pizza.

I like the concept!
lscott3··on Ask HN: Do you put your Git repositories in Dropbox?
Yeah, I was running into that as well. I have quite a few machines hooked up to it so it becomes a real pain.

I just started using a private github repo.
