lpellegr··on Show HN: A Cloudflare app for sharing product announcements
Hi there!

Last year I launched Noticeable (noticeable.io). Although successful, it was noticed that some people have simple needs that a nice and customizable popup can fit. That's how Content Showcase, which is an experiment, is born.

What does this app brings compared to existing ones:

- Unlimited impressions

- No code required, even for the installation

- Highly customizable

- Google Analytics integration

- Fair pricing

Your feedback is welcome!

I don't like to be this guy but a price per feedback looks like a scam! what's preventing you from generating feedback by yourself?

The idea looks great but what happens if you detect a malicious activity? Okay, you will send an alert but in 99.99% of the cases you will not have the time to cancel any transactions.
lpellegr··on Show HN: You Don’t Need GraphQL
You most probably lack experience with GraphQL.

For sure you can create a REST Resource to retrieve all data you need, but what if you need to fetch only some fields, and this differ from a request to another? you will have to perform manual filtering, ... in other words you will reimplement what GraphQL aims to already provide (in a more abstract and clean manner), and this is just a small part of GraphQL.

Also, your observations look wrong. GraphQL is protocol agnostic. You can use an HTTP client to communicate with a GraphQL server. HTTP is even the recommended protocol.

lpellegr··on Ask HN: Which domain registrars do you recommend in 2018?
Google domains for most well known extensions, GoDaddy or Gandi for others. Usually with these 3 I get the best price and services.

lpellegr··on How to verify if the crypto ICO is fake or real?
There are no safe solutions. The best is to make your own research: look at team members, investors, read carefully the white paper, check if the team already provide a prototype...

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

For FF it seems due to a service we are using (hotjar). We have pushed a new version that removes it. If you clear the cache and refresh the page it should work with FF.

We are investigating for IE and Edge. Could you please share the versions?

lpellegr··on Show HN: Noticeable – Easily keep your audience updated on what's new
That's a really good question.

Here are some answers:

- The smart widget that displays updates in context (your website) - The possibility to collect emails from the Timeline - Posts filtering - Markdown formatting - SEO friendly URLs

Soon we are going to:

- provide Zapier Templates for most popular integrations - send Weekly or monthly reports and reminders - collect user reactions and feedbacks from the Widget and the Timeline - ...

Below is the link to our roadmap if you are interested in:

For sure, if you have time and money for building these features, then the service is not a good fit for you. What we provide is an all-in-one solution to easily keep your audience updated.

Thanks for your reply.

API calls refer to the number of requests that reach our servers. It includes requests when people visit a project Timeline, load Widget data but also requests sent to our GraphQL API and events received from or sent to Zapier integrations.

However, requests made while using the Noticeable website (https://noticeable.io) do not count against the quota. Also, as you mentioned, requests are cached by default by a first-class Content Delivery Network (CDN). All CDN requests are free of charge and do not count against the quota.

In other words, not only direct API calls counts but also indirect ones.

Your comment lets me think "API calls" is misleading. Do you think "requests" would help to clarify? or an on hover popup with the explanations above?

No reason, except my bad spelling. Thanks for pointing out.
lpellegr··on Ask HN: What do you think about this Android app?
Read contacts permission is for enabling emergency contacts auto completion. Usb storage is for saving image photos. Network access is for Crash reports and fetching first aids techniques Web page content.
lpellegr··on Ask HN: How to sell and idea?
I love the sentence "I just can't justify (to myself) wasting that much time on a problem I don't find interesting (even if it made me 10k/month recurring profit..."

If you can't justify to yourself, how can you hope selling such an idea to someone? oh, maybe you are a commercial actor :D

lpellegr··on Ask HN: What do you think about this Android app?
What I have seen until now on Android is limited to a list of contacts to call in case of emergency. Furthermore, this last is not always trivial to access.

The app I have developed aims to go further. First, its availability on the lock screen is clear. You don't have to look for a tiny icon on top left/right side. Besides, it allows to create multiple profiles, which is useful if you have for instance young children.

For each profile, you can specify, emergency contacts but also the blood type of the person, its/her height, weight, allergies, medical conditions and any other information you may consider vital.

In addition, the app provides some utilities that allow to display your location (address, GPS coordinates, altitude), find nearby hospitals, send an SMS alert (e.g. if you are not able to speak in case of emergency).

lpellegr··on Show HN: Medical ID, the Android app that could save your life
@jrnichols to my knowledge there is no copyright on this name for Apple. Medical ID on iOS was released in September 2014, my app was first launched in June 2014, ...

Besides, in terms of features, UI, etc. the app is different and does not target the same platform.

The premium version is there to pay the different fees I have to maintain the app (domain name, Firebase, translation in other languages, etc.). It is far from paying bills.

lpellegr··on Ask HN: What do you think about this Android app?
If I understand, you suggest a better onboarding which explains what is the purpose of the app and why and how permissions are used?

Thank you for the hint about "Show HN", I was not aware of it. I will probably give a try.

lpellegr··on Ask HN: What do you think about this Android app?
Thank you n-gauge. Your idea is really interesting. I will try to consider it for next versions.

Not so much different, except that your wallet cannot display your current location, provide a compass, etc.
