The page you're looking for isn't here. Either someone gave you a bad link or there's something funky going on.
loons2··on Banksy's Fake Store Is an Attempt to Abuse Trademark Law to Avoid Copyright Law

That exact situation exists in many free software situations... doesn't it?

loons2··on Driverless cars are stuck in a jam
Paywall bypassed by CTRL-ALT-R (reader mode in FF) and then CTRL-R (reload).
loons2··on Driverless cars are stuck in a jam
I read the whole thing without even realizing there was a paywall by CTRL-ALT-R (reader mode in FF) and then CTRL-R (reload).
loons2··on Hydrogen Could Replace Coke in Steel Production
“... the technology to make fossil-free steel is already currently operating with natural gas...”

Natural Gas IS a fossil fuel!

loons2··on Project Vesta – Mitigating climate change with green sand beaches
Planting a trillion trees could be our best strategy to tackle climate change. Can we do it?

Greenhouse owners generally spike their air to 1200-1500ppm CO2. That's the compromise between best cost and best for the plants and is lower than these species evolved in.

As to humans, 400ppm causes zero problems, matter of fact, OSHA says 1000ppm for continuous exposure. NIOSH says 10,000 ppm for a 10 hour work shift.

For instance: https://inspectapedia.com/hazmat/Carbon%20_Dioxide_Exposure_...

> It already happens in nature

4000 ppm CO2 was found in nature far before pre-industry came along. Does the fact that anything "happened in nature" make it "ideal?" What is the globally "ideal" level of CO2 anyway? Certainly 200ppm is an order of magnitude low when considering the ideal for plants.

loons2··on Ask HN: Are You Hopeful About the Environment?
For a couple weeks, there was almost nothing else in the news. JFK was a single tired guy in a submarine? We might be thinking of different Cuban Missile Crises.

loons2··on Ask HN: Are You Hopeful About the Environment?
Records are set every year. A record just means no observation was previously recorded.

There's a catastrophe every generation that turns out to have been a false alarm by the time the next generation's catastrophe is fabricated.

For instance, my wife was told "no homework tonight since we'll all be dead tomorrow anyway." (Cuban Missile Crisis)

Around the time of the first Earth Day, the predictions of environmental apocalypse were legion, yet societies somehow seem to find ways to fix things that societies broke. They also seem to find ways to fix things that tyrants broke.

When you see dozens of such dire predictions over a lifetime, you start to get skeptical. Skepticism is a good thing, btw. Without it, there wouldn't be any science.

Unfortunately, the people who need to see this most, likely never will.
loons2··on Canadian permafrost thaws 70 years earlier than predicted
Thanks. A staff writer for the Guardian. Think I'll look a bit further for a more authoritative (read logical) number.

> Even if a miracle happened and we reached global zero emissions today there are already 415ppm in the atmosphere which will remain there for thousands of years.

loons2··on The Federal Reserve is usurping authority and here's why you should care
Strange how someone in the field doesn't seem to know how the Fed works. It's a consortium of 12 PRIVATE banks, given limited oversight in exchange for the power to "print" money out of thin air.

This "warning" about usurping authority comes about 80 years too late, and is far too vague, though Henry Ford wasn't much more explicit, "It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning."

loons2··on State of the climate: Heat across Earth’s surface and oceans mark early 2019
Yup. Where there's an actual fire, a fire alarm is a good idea.

Putting toxins into the atmosphere is rather different than putting a natural and necessary-for-life substance into the air.

loons2··on State of the climate: Heat across Earth’s surface and oceans mark early 2019
I'm talking about all the sky-falling alarmism in all its forms, past and present.
loons2··on U.S. Farmers Are Being Bled by the Tractor Monopoly
I'm not a farmer, but I wouldn't even buy a John Deere lawn mower for exactly this reason. The tractor I did buy is a Branson. The engine comes from the same factory that Cummins engines come from (matter of fact, some JD engines come from the Kukje factory) and everything is built with durability in mind. Yes, the dealer is 135 miles away, but since I'm not really depending on the machine to make a living, I can live with that.
loons2··on Ask HN: What books changed the way you think about almost everything?
Restoring The American Dream by Robert Ringer I read it in '80 or '81.
