loloquwowndueo··on Apple randomly closes bug reports unless you "verify" the bug remains unfixed
Companies have no consciences.
loloquwowndueo··on Apple Just Lost Me
> Edge cases like immigrants in a different land

It’s a brutal faux pas from Apple to consider immigrants an “edge case”. We are a significant group in many countries. (That said - I don’t have any banking products from my country of origin anymore)

I don’t have problems seeing and clicking normal text, thank you very much. I don’t want buttons on my emails.

loloquwowndueo··on I built an AI receptionist for a mechanic shop
Until the robot breaks for reasons unknown and you have to pay for expensive engineering time to fix it. Surprise, since the engineer vibe coded the whole thing, he also has no idea how to fix it except to get the AI to try.
loloquwowndueo··on Talking Liquid Glass with Apple
Liquid glass is permanent. Crap. At least that should give them time to figure out and fix why this garbage visibly struggles and sometimes takes seconds to render simple layouts on a latest-generation iPhone 17.
loloquwowndueo··on Tin Can, a 'landline' for kids
Your kid is envious about their friends who smoke all the time. Would you buy your kid some cigarettes just so they can be non-envious?

loloquwowndueo··on MacBook M5 Pro and Qwen3.5 = Local AI Security System
Just remember folks, the S in AI stands for Security.
loloquwowndueo··on Having Kids (2019)
Depends on the baby. Some are nightmarish.

That’s the main thing - each family and each child are different, so it’s kind of hard to base your decision on what you see and hear from others.

loloquwowndueo··on Having Kids (2019)
“A” reason?

Given the post you’re replying to, it seems you’re implying a specific reason, but what if it’s a different one? How about “I love children but having kids is super expensive”?

loloquwowndueo··on Toward automated verification of unreviewed AI-generated code
> You misunderstand. It will take them 2 years to retrain 5000 people on the new process across hundreds of locations. In some fields, whole new college-level certifications courses will have to be created.

Replace them by AI.

I’m still being sarcastic.

loloquwowndueo··on Toward automated verification of unreviewed AI-generated code
> is this going to let me grow the way I need it to in the future

This doesn’t matter in the age of AI - when you get a new requirement just tell the AI to fulfill it and the old requirements (perhaps backed by a decent test suite?) and let it figure out the details, up to and including totally trashing the old implementation and creating an entirely new one from scratch that matches all the requirements.

For performance, give the AI a benchmark and let it figure it out as well. You can create teams of agents each coming up with an implementation and killing the ones that don’t make the cut.

Or so goes the gospel in the age of AI. I’m being totally sarcastic, I don’t believe in AI coding

This is Apple, my dude - the company that sells a glorified sock to carry your phone in for US $230.

loloquwowndueo··on How I write software with LLMs
Never takes long for the “you’re holding it wrong” crowd to pop in.
loloquwowndueo··on The emergence of print-on-demand Amazon paperback books
I converted all my Amazon purchased books with Calibre and now read them using a Boox Go 7 - between that and Standard Ebooks I’m probably set for life.
loloquwowndueo··on The Isolation Trap: Erlang
It stinks of LLM - sections with headers beginning with “The”, a lot of “it’s not just X, it’s Y” etc etc.

The content is good and interesting though. Just hard to wade through with all the thorny LLM bushes getting in the way.

Looks like the author had a draft with the core content and ideas and asked an LLM to embellish it. Maybe because author wasn’t confident in their writing skills? Whatever the reason, I’d honestly prefer something human-written.

loloquwowndueo··on Wired headphone sales are exploding
Got recommendations for good USB-C wired headphones?

I don’t find wireless (AirPods) all that convenient, so when they inevitably die of battery illness I’d like a pair that won’t suffer the same fate.

loloquwowndueo··on The Isolation Trap: Erlang
Sorry, good English is good grammatically and structurally while being unique and feeling creative. and AI-written English is not good. It’s correct but totally repetitive, formulaic and circular. It’s like expecting a pizza and finding it’s made of cardboard.
loloquwowndueo··on The Isolation Trap: Erlang
It wasn’t obvious to the AI that wrote the article. There’s still hope for humans :)

loloquwowndueo··on 1B identity records exposed in ID verification data leak
Right to be forgotten - you can ask companies to delete data they hold on you.

Data ownership/portability : you can ask companies for a copy of all data they hold on you or related to you.

I’ve seen the latter used by job applicants to get an entire copy of their interviews, transcripts and assessments including the reason for not being hired.

loloquwowndueo··on Roblox is minting teen millionaires
Dunno man, when the “core gameplay loop” gets interrupted every 2 minutes with “do you want to pay to win?” Banners and 50% of the screen is covered in ads and trap buttons that pop up a purchase dialog when you press them accidentally (a given on mobile with touch controls), it’s fairly obvious the gameplay loop is the last thing in the developers mind.
