loloquwowndueo··on I tried to make Claude make me money on open-source bounties
AI contributions to projects that aren’t your own are pointless. We all have access to the same models so you’re not doing anyone any favors by adding layers of noise. If the project maintainers want to tackle an issue that matters to you, they are in a far better position to craft a suitable prompt and review the changes than a rando over the internet with a Claude account.

Source?
loloquwowndueo··on 'No way to prevent this,' says only package manager where this regularly happens
The NIH mentality in the ecosystem would result in a JavaScript pgp library which itself would be an npm package and subject to supply chain attacks. lol.
loloquwowndueo··on Solar-based sleep patterns compared to modern norms
I know. I’m a native Spanish speaker.
loloquwowndueo··on Details of the Daring Airdrop at Tristan Da Cunha
Karma 98 after 8 months. What does that tell you?
loloquwowndueo··on Details of the Daring Airdrop at Tristan Da Cunha
The one thing you seem to be missing in your anticolonialist tirades is the fact that Tristan was uninhabited. It’s not like native peoples were displaced by the British colonists, right?

> is it's own boss

Is his own boss.

(And it would be “its” anyway - “it’s” is a contraction for “it is” and is wrong in this context)

loloquwowndueo··on Meta won't let you block its AI account on Threads
Get different interests then?

It’s like saying “none of my group interests are viable unless I smoke”.

loloquwowndueo··on As researchers age, they produce less disruptive work
Imagine how much more they would have increased if it weren’t for all the solar and wind capacity.
loloquwowndueo··on The vi family
This made my day. Thanks.
loloquwowndueo··on The vi family
Show off :)
loloquwowndueo··on The vi family
My usual saying is that if all you wanted from vim was a few keybindings, you weren’t really using vim’s capabilities to any extent that matters anyway.
loloquwowndueo··on Restore full BambuNetwork support for Bambu Lab printers
I can imagine not having to do the “save to sd card, eject, put in printer, fiddle with the printers crappy ui to select the print” flow might be attractive to some. Find the model you want in the web, click “send to printer”, done.

I don’t mind the sd card thing, also happy with my bottom of the barrel ender 3.

loloquwowndueo··on Dead.Letter (CVE-2026-45185) – How XBOW found an unauthenticated RCE on Exim
Which one would you suggest using?

I’ve been looking at Stalwart to replace my old exim setup, wondering if it’s a reasonable choice.

Wait, Google does search these days?
loloquwowndueo··on Driver accused of DUI tracks missing laptop to Illinois State trooper's house
How to react to it is exactly what that video covers. Basically - don’t try to explain/justify it. It could be anything - maybe you drove through a cloud of pot smoke? Who knows. The advice from the video is to say you exercise your right not to discuss what you ate or smoked and ask if you’re detained or free to go.
loloquwowndueo··on Driver accused of DUI tracks missing laptop to Illinois State trooper's house
Oh for sure. Have you asked your lawyer what to say if they pull you over and falsely claim to smell alcohol / drugs or want you to take a bogus sobriety test? If so, care to share? With the full understanding YANAL.
loloquwowndueo··on Driver accused of DUI tracks missing laptop to Illinois State trooper's house
That’s how they have that much money.

It’s like saying why does the drug cartel leader keep selling drugs, he’s swimming in cash (literally).

loloquwowndueo··on Driver accused of DUI tracks missing laptop to Illinois State trooper's house
As others have said the intent is not to document sobriety but to have a subjective reason for an arrest which looks good in the scorecard.

Look for “if cops say I smell Alcohol, say these words” on YouTube, gives you tips on how to respond if asked about alcohol use or doing a sobriety test.

loloquwowndueo··on Walking slower? Your ears, not your knees, might be the problem
Anyone might do it, for sure. It is not typical of all people though.

Just noticed you did say computer science, not computer engineering. Two very different things.

A good argument to use could be: I can use Claude myself, so I will if I need to, but you using Claude on my behalf doesn’t save me any work, it just introduces another layer of noise into the mix. (Yes calling the guy “noise” haha)
loloquwowndueo··on Walking slower? Your ears, not your knees, might be the problem
> by people talking at such a high rate, they start responding before the other person's sentence or thought is completely expressed.

This is typical of people with ADHD. It also drives me up the wall :)

loloquwowndueo··on I returned to AWS and was reminded why I left
Right - nobody who’s had a formal education in engineering would think that way, because cost considerations are part of the curriculum from the start.
loloquwowndueo··on I returned to AWS and was reminded why I left
You didn’t read the comment I replied to, did you? The premise was :

> the UI flow is geared towards the idea that engineers don't really see the costs, they just build stuff and then management pays at the end of the month.

So this is about the engineers consuming AWS, not the ones who designed and implemented AWS

loloquwowndueo··on Taxpayers May Be Eligible for Significant Tax Refunds – If They Act by July 10

Engineers are not entirely cost-oblivious entities.

loloquwowndueo··on The hypocrisy of cyberlibertarianism
I’m not saying the newer alternatives are not convenient! Just saying the old ones were OK; not the garment-rending disaster TFA purports them to be.
loloquwowndueo··on The hypocrisy of cyberlibertarianism
Dunno man, those things you say were “horrible” before the advent of mobile phones, media players and gps (not even the internet; usable incarnations of those inventions were entirely independent from the internet) - I was also there and it was _fine_.
