lma21··on Ask HN: What news sources do you use to maintain a broad perspective?
where can I find the full text feed?
lma21··on List Homomorphisms and Parallelism
> Now define a function f that morally computes such a tuple for single element subarrays:

what does `morally computes` means?

lma21··on Squatting or Kneeling May Be Beneficial for Health
(serious question) how are you able to balance yourself squatting on a chair? how can I learn?
lma21··on Schizophrenia linked to marijuana use disorder is on the rise, study finds
Would CBD help in this case? Have you tried it ?
lma21··on GitHub Copilot: First Impressions
I love the fact that it can help write tedious, repetive, and simple logic code blocks! It'll save me time googling basic stuff that I tend to forget.

Will it also learn (i.e. feed GPT) from the code we're writing which it is also helping to write? How do you think it'll learn to deprecate bad practices or evolutions observed in a language (think writing concurrency code in Java 5 vs. Java 9, or any other relevant Programming Language evolutions)?

lma21··on Google parts with Cloud VP over his manifesto renouncing his antisemitism
Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info!
lma21··on Google parts with Cloud VP over his manifesto renouncing his antisemitism
isn't anti-semitic and anti-arab the same term? historically/technically speaking
lma21··on Ask HN: Alternatives to Google Photos?
I have a question (to everyone) that is a bit off topic.

How are you housekeeping your photo library? I'm hosting mine in iCloud, and its size is increasing year after year. I'm close to the 150-200 GB of photos/videos. Deleting photos or videos manually would take a lot of time. How do you do it?

lma21··on Ignoring Docker updates is a paid feature now?
... [anymore].
lma21··on Leveraging the Go Type System
would you have a sample code? sounds interesting
lma21··on Show HN: OpenFaaS template for headless Chrome and Puppeteer
(a bit off topic - apologies for that), I find OpenFaaS fascinating. Where can I find case studies / documented use-case for its usage?
lma21··on I logged my activities at 15-minute intervals for the whole year
That's a lot of 'focused work'! I doubt I can log the time I spend at work as focused-work... I have a feeling that low-focus work would dominate. Does anyone else feel the same?
lma21··on Upptime – GitHub-powered open-source uptime monitor and status page
Does 1/hour really count as /Continuous/ integration/delivery?

They made 2000 action-minutes-per-month for free for a specific reason. I think they can bare the cost and the potential 'abuse' inhibited by free orgs.

lma21··on Upptime – GitHub-powered open-source uptime monitor and status page
Unless the alert is managed by a downstream automated system, I don't see the point of having an internal that is smaller than 1 minute -- 1 second or 1 minute won't differ much for a human interaction, right? Am I missing something?
lma21··on Bye Bye Mongo, Hello Postgres (2018)
Indeed, though that must have cost them twice as much to do the migration with the two systems being live in parallel. Some choose to avoid the extra cost.
lma21··on AirPods Max
A few months ago, I experienced sort of an inflection point regarding the love I had for Apple products when my iPhone broke for no reason whatsoever: it worked perfectly during the day, no physical scratch or anything, woke up and I noticed that the phone was hot, i opened it, tried to close some apps and I noticed that it's quite slow. I opened the settings and kept getting notification popups regarding storage and saying that the storage is full. I decided to reboot, and the iPhone did not start after that. No reboot, restore, no safe recovery, nothing worked. Took it to Apple Support, told me the same things I found online "hardware failure" and proposed to "fix" it by buying a new phone of the same (2.5 year old) model for $570.

Nope.

I'll never buy an 'un-repairable' headset for $549.

lma21··on Ask HN: How do you deal with chronic illness?
Good for you for never giving up, never showing the pain you go through, and for ignoring other people's reactions. That shows resilience.
lma21··on Six Figures in 6 days
I'm an Apple user since 2007. I didn't buy this icon pack.
lma21··on Firefox usage is down despite Mozilla's top exec pay going up
I haven't. Why is it relevant?
lma21··on Firefox usage is down despite Mozilla's top exec pay going up
Thank you for shedding the light on this part. I didn't know it before! (even though it doesn't look like news)
lma21··on DuckDuckGo is growing fast
I switched from Google to DuckDuckGo a few months ago. I always found myself switching back to Google, whether I was looking up some news info or tech-related or programming hints. I switched back to Google. Any one experienced the same thing? What did you do?
lma21··on Apple: Apps should not require users to opt into tracking to access content
Yes of course, because we saw how governments (around the world) are capable of enforcing such laws when it comes to user privacy and tracking.
lma21··on FBI examined Google records to see if anyone had knowledge of Guccifer persona
Don't bother (or maybe bother if you really want to get into both "US politics vs. Roger Stone" or "FBI/Google vs privacy of the individual")
lma21··on Show HN: My GitHub Readme Is Interactive

lma21··on No Hello (2013)
I'm sorry, but are you really losing that much productivity by being a bit more human and replying to that hello, asking how the other person this? in any case, once the question is asked, you will be context switching and trying to find that answer.

I find that saying hello and then waiting is more practical. If the other person is busy, then they won't reply and they'll reply at a more convenient time.

lma21··on How I got the French Tech Visa to start my company in France
Also, if you've worked for at least 6 months in the past 2 years and your company went under / you got fired / the company did not renew your CDD (temporary contract) / you had to quit because your SO is moving, you're given unemployment benefits (whether you're French or not) as well as help to get back to employment.
lma21··on How I got the French Tech Visa to start my company in France
> It does not mean there’s no racism in America just that it’s lesser

Based on what are you comparing here?

lma21··on How I got the French Tech Visa to start my company in France
Charges patronales and charges sociales are not really "taxes" given your understanding of taxation.

Charges patronales and charges sociales are well explained in every payslip, i.e. where that money goes and how the employee/employer benefit from them.

Also, every person's net income tax is also explained and you can see where it goes.

At the end of the day, when a French person loses their job (even if they're a non-essential worker in any industry), they go home not worrying about a single damn thing... it's good to have such security, no?

lma21··on The machines USPS is removing can sort more than 36,000 pieces of mail per hour
We're seeing major things happening around the world. The biggest of them is seeing the US slowly head into an autocracy (quite implicitly). Trump is doing whatever Trump wants, and no one is stopping him. How so?
lma21··on Oh Shit, Git?
wow!

how do I do this for custom cli apps?
