livinglist··on Xiaomi launches next-gen SU7 with 902 km range and Lidar, still undercuts Tesla
I’m having trouble getting what you are trying to convey here because Tesla has also been heavily subsidized by the US government. Have you ever ridden an EV from China? Because I have myself many times and really want to know what your complaints here are?

US media has been telling me China is bad, I as someone born and grew up in China also know China did bad things, but what is it exactly that made you hostile to things related to China?

livinglist··on A road safety plan that will lead to cars communicating with each other
Imagine all these money being invested in building and refining public transportations and improving the zoning laws so the city don’t spread out but “spread up”.
livinglist··on Apple set to be first Big Tech group to face charges under EU digital law
I use Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and I just love how everything works so well together right out of the box. You have to remember 99% users don’t care much about concerns like yours, they just want a smooth, hustle free, near zero learning curve experience.
livinglist··on Spotify won't open-source Car Thing, but starts refund process
Just messaged their support team and was able to get a full refund.

livinglist··on For the love of cats in Turkey
I myself have a Japanese Akita and a long hair Munchkin, they get along really well. Many friends of mine also have both dogs and cats in their home, they don't fight each other at all and can be really intimate sometimes.

livinglist··on Satya Nadella admits giving up on Windows Phone and mobile was a mistake
This was exactly why I gave up on .Net ecosystem. I learned c# as my first programming language, then I started playing around with winforms and then making utility apps for windows phone, everything was great except suddenly wp got killed and they released UWP afterwards, and then UWP got killed to make rooms for whatever came after it… all happened within span of 5 years, it’s really exhausting for developers especially knowing that something you spent time learning and working with probably gonna get dropped sometimes soon..
livinglist··on Ask HN: What’s the most interesting job that’s not on your résumé? Why?
It was a one time thing but I was a background extra in one of the episodes of The Man in the High Castle.
livinglist··on Apple puts a hidden QR code on iPhone screens
I remember there’s an app in China that has a QR code on screen all the time that is basically invisible to users unless you tune the color scale in a certain way, I forgot what it was for specifically but I imagine it was for tracking the screenshots taken and uploaded by users.
livinglist··on Ask HN: Should one remain anonymous in online content creation

livinglist··on Mark Zuckerberg on Apple’s Vision Pro headset
Speaking of trackpad, I have never touched a mouse ever again since I started using Mac and it’s been 7 years now.
livinglist··on I hate almost all software (2011)
When I work on my own projects, I used to try to balance both worlds cuz I want these source code to be seen, but after some time observing GitHub insights on my repos I noticed barely any ppl even care to check out any sub directory like lib or src.. so I stopped caring about coding styles or formats, i do keep my repos zero warnings from linters though, for my own pleasure.

livinglist··on Black holes might be defects in spacetime
I just was interested enough to look up what’s the nearest known black hole to Earth, and it’s Gaia BH1 which is 1560 light years away from us…can I still get my hope up that during my lifetime I can witness some significant breakthrough regarding our knowledge of black hole?

livinglist··on Show HN: I made an iOS HN app to navigate large threads without getting lost
At $6, you really are not paying to use the dark mode, you are paying to appreciate the value it brings to you, nobody is forcing you to use the app.
livinglist··on Writing Python like it's Rust
I started my programming journey with C# which is a statically typed language, and when I later was introduced to Python when I was in college, I really liked how convenient it is but the lack of typing made me really uncomfortable.
