lilerjee··on Coding Is Not Solved – Alex Ewerlöf Notes
AI is a better intelligence collection and analysis system, they need any information when you are using AI tools.

They are thinking: Please input everything you know, or just use it and it will collect everything in your PC or server automatically.

Stop lazy, stupid and dangerous behaviors.

lilerjee··on A note on subscription prices from LWN
No open mind, Cannot tolerate criticism, Only donwvote.

The future looks even bleaker.

lilerjee··on A note on subscription prices from LWN
I did not use LWN ago, and am worried the future of it.

It outputs content and the users read the articles. I think the value of the model is not big.

The most important knowledge and experience is from your own practice, thinking, experiment, and reality.

If the price is too high, many users maybe think it is not worthy of the price, especially because there are many free and useful knowledge on Internet.

lilerjee··on Good Culture Is the Biggest Productivity Hack, Not AI
How to develop good culture? Firstly remove AI.
lilerjee··on The internet is kind of a predatory cesspit now
> Crypto has become the subject of my verbal ire so often because it is the apotheosis of the grift economy.

AI is replacing Crypto on the topic in some sense.

lilerjee··on Norway should buy OpenAI
It's a test for business?

OpenAI wants someone or party to buy it?

It's too late, the sun is being down.

lilerjee··on Ask HN: GitHub employees what's going on? Why?
Too complicated and the price is very huge.

Fixing small errors and keeping going on maybe is a good business strategy.

The last result is probably what you said.

lilerjee··on Ask HN: GitHub employees what's going on? Why?
This is business secret.

No employee with professional ethics would tell you that (the real internal situation).

You can observe and analyze the reasons from some things.

Use it and tolerate the bad things, or on some time point go to other place (use other tool).

lilerjee··on Models Are Getting Dumber on Purpose
> This mostly solves hallucination

Current AI is like the film company producing TV series or movies

Your question is like a story outline. You tell the film company that this is the movie you want. The AI film company then searches for existing similar stories. If similar stories do not exist or details are missing, screenwriters use imagination to fill in the gaps (remember hallucination? It's just a makeup.)

So you cannot solve hallucination of AI

lilerjee··on Claude: System Prompts
Actually, I found the phenomenon too. I think there are two main reasons:

1. ycombinator supports many AI companies.

2. There are too many marketers from AI companies.

lilerjee··on Choose Boring Technology (2015)
I have the similar opinions:

We need to remember that the purpose of using tools is to solve specific problems and achieve goals. Having no tools, too few tools, or too many tools can all hinder the achievement of those goals. We only need to select a few useful, universal, and widely applicable tools. Unless there are necessary and sufficient reasons, we shouldn't easily switch to new tools.

For the tools we choose, one must become truly familiar with and proficient in their use, continuously customize, modify, and improve them, and strive to use them to the fullest extent, thereby significantly improving efficiency and productivity, and solving practical problems and achieving goals faster and better.

lilerjee··on AI is removing the middle class of software engineering?
Rubbish article, waste of my time.

No confirmation for the title, rubbish arguments and logic.

> Good engineers have become more valuable because AI lets them move much faster.

Bad prediction. This is likely another AI marketing article.

lilerjee··on I won't read LLM authored fiction
How to detect which fiction, article, or review is created by fake AI or LLM?

There are too many texts generated by LLM on Internet now.

The experience of exploring Internet is very bad now.

lilerjee··on People who tell you 'AI is changing everything' are lying
Interesting, two anti-AI articles were flagged in around 2-4 hours. Finding no supporting AI articles are flagged. Why?
lilerjee··on Silicon Valley sees AI as the solution – for everyone else
Why didn't you regard it as a promotion or marketing strategy? Actually it is
lilerjee··on Devtools must be open source
> The new personalization talking point appears to be coordinated. It is all over the Internet since last week.

I agree with you.

They are manipulating public opinion, fooling users.

lilerjee··on Note-Taking and Personal Knowledge Management
My app metaessen even is simpler than your MindForger.

Just plain text or markdown format, name, description and keywords (tags, unique features: keywords have orders and bound time) for resources, structures like real objects, search and filter by text or keywords,

No inline images or videos (add images in the future), math, diagrams, AI / LLM, or other unnecessary things (my own values for unnecessary things).

lilerjee··on Note-Taking and Personal Knowledge Management
I used Joplin, Sphinx doc for many years ago, but I don't use them recently.

I found they are too complicated, bloated, not easy to organize notes, not easy to access across devices, not flexible, no manual sorting, etc.

I like simple, concise, flexible and practical note-taking or bookmark management app. So I have created my own note-taking app Metaessen [1] for 2+ years.

Now I am just using my own app and pure text for bookmarks and notes.

Life is short, no necessary to use too complicated softwares.

lilerjee··on Which web browser has no AI?
Because using AI or adding AI features can influence many aspects of the softwares (decisions, philosophy, UI, details, attitudes to users, privacy, security, etc.), and reflects the abilities and purposes of the developer or company.
lilerjee··on Which web browser has no AI?
"No AI", I mean totally no AI features, not the options to close AI features.
lilerjee··on Software for One
Go away from AI marketing article

Too many marketing persons.

Let them talk to themselves

lilerjee··on The End of an Era
Another wave of marketing from AI companies?

Only speak advantages of AI, no or a few trivial disadvantages.

lilerjee··on Google fixed more Chrome bugs in June than over the past two years, thanks to AI
More important thing:

Do you import new more bugs?

lilerjee··on The Productivity Mirage
Many comments were created by AI? Waste much time on them.

The main idea of the article is not clear, and the structure of it is not good to read

lilerjee··on AI Doomsday Bullshit Is Getting Tired
Creating the AI in AI hype is as absurd, ridiculous, and a waste of resources as building a perpetual motion machine.

Don't they know? Why do they continue to develop, promote, and deceive like this?

Sometimes, the truth is not important probably.

But the game is being over very soon.

lilerjee··on My current strategy is to not read any of the code written by my agents
Focusing on the surrounding other than the code itself is not good strategy or behavior.

Giving up reviewing code is not strategy, but because:

Review AI code line by line is like watch movies frame by frame, and is impossible, very difficult, terribly boring, or abandoned sooner or later.

lilerjee··on LLM Usage in Debian: Three Proposals
Proposal A

Using LLM encourages data theft or unethical acts.

lilerjee··on The AI Productivity Illusion
Economic productivity is an interesting perspective. I think you are right. Current AI spends too many resources but gets too few values (real values).

Too much hype in the process of AI development.

If analyzing the basic theory of LLM or AI (second hand data, data conversion, cognitive bias, etc.), this will make it more persuasive.

lilerjee··on I Tried Building a Real App with AI. It Took a Year
Developing an app involves in many details, and AI cannot solve or think about all of them, many details will use default values, make up some values, or just left blank.

The details are important. You shape the details, and the details shape you in turn as well.

lilerjee··on Writing by hand is good for your brain
Writing by hand has some advantages and writing by keyboard also has some advantages. Using note-taking app or similar software is very convenient and useful in some situations.
