I saw the future and it was in the clouds. Useless bum by night. Ham radio (160m & 6m), CW > 30wpm. Still learning all the neat stuff, never give up.

Fine here. FF on Linux

Personally, don't use it at all. Worst social media platform IMO.

lightlyused··on Open Source, Trademarks, and WP Engine
So is the out for wpengine that they aren't enforcing it across the board but using it to "extort" a dollar amount that they perceive that they are owed?
lightlyused··on Natural Gas Company Said It Was Going Green but Still Sells as Much Fossil Fuel
True. They have a commission to approve fracking under State parks. It really is just a rubber stamp.
lightlyused··on Natural Gas Company Said It Was Going Green but Still Sells as Much Fossil Fuel
People should realize that what I stated is actually true. Ohio did that.
lightlyused··on Natural Gas Company Said It Was Going Green but Still Sells as Much Fossil Fuel
Just do what Ohio did and declare natural gas green. Problem solved. /s
lightlyused··on WP Engine is not WordPress
Wow. I was right. https://wpengine.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Cease-and-De...

IYKYK I guess.

lightlyused··on WP Engine sent "cease and desist" letter to Automattic
Similar experience here. Poorly documented and inflexible.
lightlyused··on WP Engine is not WordPress
They really thing WordPress is something special. It really isn't; there are better systems. I think Matt is just mad because he is not getting any revenue from wpengine.

That being said, some commercial users of open-source software need to be better contributors to the eco-system and not just vampires.

lightlyused··on The rich history of ham radio culture
Erecting large antennas is not cheap. Up to $20k+ for a small tower (28m) properly done.

Actually, they really are better than ICE vehicles. Alternators are horrible.

There probably was an offer but I bet if you look at the books the price that was wanted was not what it was actually worth.

lightlyused··on AWS to start charging for IPv4 usage, but critical services don't support IPv6
aws ec2-instance-connect doesn't use docker, it just sets up a short lived ssh key in the instance metadata that you can use to connect. You can connect either via a public ipv4, ipv6, or a vpc private endpoint.

lightlyused··on RedHat found a way to get around the GPLv2 license intention with contract law
I hope this makes the RedHat based distros less popular in the long term. We need to get out from under their shadow (and IBMs).
lightlyused··on What happened with ASUS routers this morning?
My ac66u-b1 has been acting weird for the past several months. I first thought it was an Ubuntu bug. Wifi wouldn't always reconnect after I'd closed my laptop. Yesterday, however, it seemed to just die randomly. Error was "no space left on device." SSHing in to it and it does show root volume as 100% used. So, whatever Asus was doing has pushed it over the edge space wise and it can no long write the dnsmasq.leases file when enough devices connect.

So, what wifi ap should I buy to replace this POS?
