The NSA is not allowed to spy on Americans.
ASIO is not allowed to spy on Australians.
But what if the NSA gave the PRISM tech and data feed to ASIO so ASIO could spy on Americans and answer any question the NSA asks (and vice versa).
Now neither intelligence service has an 'illegal wiretap' on their own citizens. They just receive 'foreign intelligence' from each other.
Now mix in every other 'friendly' state and there's a massive worldwide mesh of data gathering that's all legal .. in the strictest sense of the word.
(I feel like I should put my tinfoil hat on .. but since this has broken I'm fairly sure they're futile)
robots.txt is for reading by robots so has to be structured
humans.txt is for reading by humans so can be anything a human wants to put in there.

1. Totally made this up. The point being that nobody chooses a car based on the thread-count of the material in the seats. And nobody chooses a browser based on the power draw.
The obvious truth is that Microsoft will only commission a study on something they've already proven to themselves internally. As will every other company on the planet.
Here's the graph corrected for both zero-baseline and using a column graph: http://i.imgur.com/24UrJpB.png
A weekly thread is probably too fast a turn around.
TL;DR: I'm happy with the status quo.
* Put all newsletters in a tab so I don't see them * Delete all but the latest five unread of any particular subscription * Delete anything older than 180 days -- even if I've read it, unless I've 'starred' it.
Can it do that? Coz that would absolutely kill for subscriptions. iTunes does that sort of thing for podcasts. How can newsletters be harder?
We know media technology is led by the porn industry. Maybe physical technology is led by the weapons industry.
If I had an 80% success rate, but was 18 for 20 I'd score 117. To get that, I'd need to be changing jobs every single year.
The score is not only totally made up but pointless and adds nothing to the rest of the article. It's just there to suck you into the article.
Some people (undefined process) are given an endorsed skill (eg. Python). They can now endorse anyone in their network for python. But they cannot endorse anyone who claims a skill in 'goat herding'.
Now they have meaning as you can only endorse someone for a skill you have also been endorsed for.
My former boss had added 'Oracle' as a skill. I didn't know until LinkedIn asked me to endorse it. He's not even a technical guy, so I've no idea why he had added it but he's actually been endorsed for it by other business owners.
1. They're going to buy Sketch¹
2. They're about to release a new product that replaces Fireworks
3. They're going to have some version of Photoshop and/or Illustrator capable of the same things.
My guess? They're going to buy Sketch. If #2 was the case, it would have been demoed at Max. If #3 was the case, they'd have demoed at least some of those features at Max.
____
1. When I say 'Sketch', I mean it-or-something-very-similar
Imagine, if you will, that you have a popular product that you wish to EOL. And you know that people will not be happy. In fact, there'll be people who are downright angry and feel somehow betrayed. But you're going to do it.
These people want to vent their frustration. These days, they can take to Twitter, blogs and any number of sites like HN and Reddit.
But what if, as you told them you were discontinuing the product, you also gave them space to scream blue murder? And they would be screaming directly at your company, without even opening a new tab in their browser.
Now you've corralled at least some of the vitriol on your own platform. Now you can turn off the comments in a week or a month and all that venom disappears like it was never there.
Whether this is Adobe's intention doesn't matter. It's an interesting idea none the less.
But the kid was really responding to an ad for deep fried processed chicken and potato.
I also missed this one: > If your account is less than a year old, please don't submit comments saying that HN is turning into Reddit. (It's a common semi-noob illusion.)
I'm only up to 326 days, so I'll go back to my corner and apologize (genuinely) for not being aware of these rules.
Though I still don't think it belongs here ;-D
I know I'm not heavily karma'd and so my opinion counts for less, but this isn't the sort of thing I'm expecting on HN. This belongs over in Reddit (where I promise I'll still see it .. probably reposted a dozen times)
I have a site that uses the '.se' and the (non tech) people who are my target market keep asking '.com?'
