lawgimenez··on We're learning more about what Vitamin D does
I just used Safari's hide distracting items feature. Popovers gone.
lawgimenez··on Music eases surgery and speeds recovery, study finds
Heavy metal/hardcore is good music. Mumble rap is bad music.
lawgimenez··on Migrating the main Zig repository from GitHub to Codeberg
You have a toxic attitude.
lawgimenez··on Migrating the main Zig repository from GitHub to Codeberg
So we’re calling our fellow programmers monkeys and losers now.
lawgimenez··on I just want working RCS messaging
The other countries not mentioned are on Facebook's Messenger.
lawgimenez··on Tell HN: Azure outage
Yeah Windows Phone's first releases were decent. I have developed apps for Windows actually using Window's UWP framework but there weren't enough users on their platform sadly.
lawgimenez··on Tell HN: Azure outage
Sounds like he’s describing Windows phone.
lawgimenez··on Show HN: A better Hacker News front end
This is better because it has dark mode. Yo Y-comb when we getting dark mode?
lawgimenez··on How to turn liquid glass into a solid interface
My understanding Apple will remove it sometime next year April.
lawgimenez··on Show HN: Sober not Sorry – free iOS tracker to help you quit bad habits
That’s awesome progress! Keep going, you might lose some friends or people along the way but health is more important when you get older.

I’ve read that lungs will heal back to its non-smoker state slowly but surely.

lawgimenez··on I built physical album cards with NFC tags to teach my son music discovery
Haha so cool! Fresh fruits is one of my top 5 albums all time. I remember buying it when I was a teen, life changing record. Thanks!
lawgimenez··on Show HN: Sober not Sorry – free iOS tracker to help you quit bad habits
Next year May I will be 20 years sober, quit drinking and smoking cold turkey.

All I can remember was that smoking was the most difficult habit to quit because I was a chain smoker and the withdrawals are no joke. So yeah if you want to start on this sober journey, just be ready.

This is a cool app, will download.

lawgimenez··on Liquid Glass Is Cracked, and Usability Suffers in iOS 26
Fo sure, no sane person has a grass as their chat background or any background. That seems silly.
lawgimenez··on I built physical album cards with NFC tags to teach my son music discovery
Back in the day me and my friends would also trade cassettes and CDs for a week because buying one costs a lot of money for broke teenagers like us.

Hey I just bought this new Dead Kennedys tape I would love to trade for your NOFX CD!

Kids nowadays just take for granted music and it makes me kinda sad.

lawgimenez··on Ask HN: What's the best hackable smart TV?
Same, bought an LG TV and remote is straight up disaster. I have huge hands, huge thumb etc, pressing on the center button means I get to press the other up, down, left, right buttons.

And don't even get me started with creating an LG account just to get anything working on the TV like downloading a system update.

lawgimenez··on Liquid Glass Is Cracked, and Usability Suffers in iOS 26
Been using Liquid Glass since the first developer beta release, as an Apple dev I like it.

OP seems to even deliberately choose a stupid message background just to prove his/her point. Of course, there's a lot of backgrounds to choose from.

lawgimenez··on Track which Electron apps slow down macOS 26 Tahoe
> How do you crusade through Apple's appalling [lack of] documentation and dumb error messages and all the weird *magic* involved in wrangling an imperative language into a declarative framework?

That's the benefit of a solo dev, one I don't have a UI/UX designer over-designing shit and secondly I stay close to SwiftUI's components, if I can't customized my own Picker then who cares.

I don't know but there's a lot of decent blogs and tutorials in SwiftUI nowadays.

lawgimenez··on Track which Electron apps slow down macOS 26 Tahoe
Truly sad, if I remember they were still migrating to SwiftUI for their iOS app.

I have an app which almost shares the same SwiftUI codebase with iOS and macOS, and I am a one-man dev. If I can do it, I believe these million dollar company can also.

lawgimenez··on 10k pushups and other silly exercise quests that changed my life
Awesome, bookmarked your post! Thanks for this, can't wait to try pushups again.
lawgimenez··on 10k pushups and other silly exercise quests that changed my life
This is inspirational, I am also looking into getting back in shape, getting my weight up since I am going to be approaching 40. And randomly some part of my body just hurts during the day.
lawgimenez··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2025)
I'm still using last.fm and this is great! Thank you for this.
lawgimenez··on Yt-dlp: Upcoming new requirements for YouTube downloads
Also tried Tidal once with their trial, tried playing some music videos and it was just straight up blurry throughout. Not once did the music video played HD.
lawgimenez··on Xcode Is the Worst Piece of Professional Software I Have Ever Used
You're right, parent's comment is just wrong.
lawgimenez··on Xcode Is the Worst Piece of Professional Software I Have Ever Used
As an iOS developer it is truly a bad piece of software. Compiler doesn't even throw an error when you left out a dot.

lawgimenez··on Tesla influencers tried coast-to-coast self-driving, hit debris before 60 miles
Humans would have slowed down at least. After watching it many times, that shadow in front is too large to warrant a concern.
lawgimenez··on The Ruby community has a DHH problem
I’m not worried about anything. I ain’t even sure if DHH is correct in his tone. It’s more like something similar from the book I read about biker gang’s white supremacist.
lawgimenez··on The Ruby community has a DHH problem
> 2000s. Chiefly because it's no longer full of native Brits. In 2000, more than sixty percent of the city were native Brits. By 2024, that had dropped to about a third. A statistic as evident as day when you walk the streets of London now.

From DHH’s linked blog?

lawgimenez··on The Ruby community has a DHH problem
So, what exactly is wrong with UK having only 1/3 native brits?

I’m Asian, I don’t get why the West is so concerned. If half of my country are expats immigrating, hell yeah. I don’t see the problem as long as everyone is contributing for the overall community and welfare of the country.

lawgimenez··on Vapor chamber tech keeps iPhone 17 Pro cool
I dropped my iPhone 15 Pro Max to my wife's iPhone 14 and it cracked the 14's screen right away. Because of these event, I started going caseless with my 15.
lawgimenez··on ‘Overworked, underpaid’ humans train Google’s AI
Couple of months ago I received a job invite for Kotlin AI trainers from the team at Upwork. I asked what the job is about and she says something like "for the opportunity to review & evaluate content for generative AI." And I'm from a developed country too.
