Their request IDs seem to be chronological when sorted alphabetically.
laurensr··on Project Blinkenlights
I like to telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl
laurensr··on The Little Book of Reinforcement Learning
This reminds me of the Little Book of Calm, discussed extensively in the Black Books TV series.

laurensr··on Reports of Telnet's death have been greatly exaggerated
Thanks for pointing that out! My ISP, (Orange Belgium), does not support IPv6 yet!
laurensr··on Reports of Telnet's death have been greatly exaggerated
Unfortunately towel.blinkenlights.nl is permanently dead
laurensr··on Anyone have experiences with Audio Induction Loops?
I see them less and less. Recently an acquaintance got hearing aids and when asked about the T functionality (to listen to induction loops) they didn't even know about it.
laurensr··on test-ipv6.com will stay online
Meanwhile some ISPs are still not offering IPv6, such as Orange Belgium.
laurensr··on Postman: Major Outage on Desktop and Browser
The most absurd limitation in Postman is a limit on how many times your team can run a collection. Locally, on their machine.

Let that sink in: on YOUR LOCAL machine.

laurensr··on Postman: Major Outage on Desktop and Browser
What we really need is a community-driven alternative without lock-in. Many other use cases are covered by great FOSS products, but somehow API clients are abused as a sync cash cow:

- insomnia deliberately broke a 3rd party sync: https://github.com/acheong08/obi-sync

- I could go on

laurensr··on Postman: Major Outage on Desktop and Browser
I've been using Bruno lately. It can use any directory as a collection, and I use git repos with my team to sync collections.

laurensr··on How a Gas Compressor Station Works
In the sixties, hexavelent chromium was used as a rust inhibitor in cooling towers in a Hinkley PG&E compressor station. It caused ground water contamination affecting the health of many.

The lengths we have to go to make a device at this price point do what we want is... reMarkable
laurensr··on Kim Dotcom's extradition to the U.S. given green light by New Zealand
And then there is FATCA and CRS : when opening a bank account for my non-profit I had to answer 15 pages of questions related to me, other directors and the non-profit itself. I'm a non-US citizen outside of the US.

Thanks for sharing this! I could be wrong, but it seems like there is no public registration link yet, right?
laurensr··on Ballerina: Functional programming framework for front end web development
Not to be confused with the programming language by WSO2 [1].

laurensr··on I built an online PDF management platform using open-source software
If anyone knows about a FOSS pdf form editor, please share!
laurensr··on Towards a Precise Definition of Microflows
WSO2 have been pitching their stack in a way that tries to make established coding stacks look 'old school' while inventing things like Ballerina which is just a proprietary language. Additionally, tools like their Enterprise Service Bus are no longer open source, and tools such as their API Manager lack critical monetization components.

How much traction do their components have among this community?

laurensr··on What was the biggest art theft in history?
What about art in museums all over the world that is requested back by the country of origin?
laurensr··on Stirling-PDF: local web application to perform various operations on PDFs

laurensr··on Have a complaint about CVS? So do pharmacists: Many just walked out
For non-Americans like me: apparently CVS stands for "Consumer Value Stores," and is a well-known American retail and healthcare company.
laurensr··on Insomnium – Local, privacy-focused fork of Insomnia API client
What is it with generic HTTP clients and their data/account hunger? And why has no fully selfhosted team collaboration tool stood up?
laurensr··on Ask HN: How do you use AI to get things done faster?
I use ChatGPT to make bad code readable. E.g. convert nested ternary expressions to if/else structures.

I also use it to generate boilerplate code like DTOs and mappers for a given set of entities.
